I am sorry if this is a dumb question but I need to ask something. I am a new child of God, having only been saved a few months and my question is this. does resisting temptations get easier as my faith matures? I am trying to do what is right in Gods eyes but sometimes It's really hard. Like at work, I used to love gossip, I never much started it but I loved to listen to it, and now, even though I walk away most times there is a part of me that is dying to know. Am I a bad person again? I so much want to do what God wants me to do and I want nothing more then to please him but sometimes it's hard. Thanks for listening.

Welcome to the Board, Loren. I have been saved for 44 and a half years and still struggle with temptation, and I unfortunately sometimes give in to it. However, the closer we get to Jesus Christ and the more we let the Holy Spirit lead, guide and direct us, the less we desire to sin. Of course, satan will continue to try to tempt us, hoping to make us stumble and doubt ourselves. Pray, read and study His word, and keep your eyes upon Jesus. You will find the things of this world meaning less and less to you

We all fall short none are without sin we all have our struggles Lucky for us we are saved by Gods grace meaning even if we sin he gives us a clean slate everytime we repent in his name. You will be fine just trust he loves you and understands the weakness of the flesh.

It all starts in Faith and when faith is fully grownit brings forth Love."Watch and pray that you may not enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.” (Matthew 26:41)Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." (John 14:6)Stay away from gossips but challenge the truth.Church of Love in Jesus Christhttp://christiansite.multiply.com/journal

Of course it does. When you mature more in the faith and come to know God more and want to do the things that pleases Him most it would be easier for you to resist temptations and live a holier life.Becoming a mature Christian is a process. So it means we are all growing and learning day by day from our daily experiences. It will never be a quick fix or a magic potion. But that is if you want to learn...

My advice also! Try to keep close to Jesus as much as you can. Flesh is a vicious animal that needs to be tamed every day. "But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway." - 1Cor. 9:27Pray as much as you can, and also a fasting from time to time will help a lot. It's like workout, you get fitter as more as you get. This is the "exercise" of a christian and it will also strengthen your faith too "And he said unto them, This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting." - Mark 9:29Also try to be among brothers as much as you can. There's a reason Paul says "Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is ; but exhorting one another : and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching." - Heb 10:25Try to spend your time in spiritual things as much as you can. If you were to do something of no importance at all, say watch tv junk, go to your room and pray or study the bible. For example while at work, i try to listen to christian radio.Try to fill your life with Him and you will see GREAT things in your life. Trust me, i have.No it doesnt get any easier, if you neglet all the above, your temptations will only get worse. "Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:" -1 Pet. 5:8Do all the above, and you will have high walls of sanctification and your armour ready to take the hits of our enemy. "Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;" -Eph. 6:13God bless you my brother.

Let me say this: Jesus taught us to pray "and lead us not into temptation (testing) but deliver us from evil." Sometimes we are tempted, sometimes tested. He actually gave us the right to pray to avoid this!I found that I had problems with some repetitious sins. One day God removed the desire for me to do this because I guess it was heinous in His site! I just prasied God for it and continued on without that sin. There are sins that I repeat, and until God decides to remove them on His own time, I just give them over to Him. After all, we are not saved by pretending to be sin-free. The temptation is still there and we turn that over to God (as anything else) for Him to deal with it. By doing so, we acknowledge that it is not right and we want to be free from it, but are powerless in and of ourselves to do so. That is indeed a true mind of faith, when we let it to God to deal with and not by our own power.
