Remain with one wife for yours or hers entire life, or just don't get married.
Agreed, but we’re not talking about marriage in this thread but how the Bible condones prostitution. And I just thought o another way the Bible condones prostitution; Is there a single verse in all of the Bible were prostitutes are morally condemned?

How many prostitutes can one man sleep with before it becomes sinful?
How many drinks of wine can one have before it becomes sinful?

I know you are desperately hoping something will stick if you throw enough verses at the wall. This verse prohibits a priests daughter from - not prostitution - but from being a whore. Not quite the question I asked, is it?

I asked if there is a single verse that morally condemns prostitution, not prohibit the religious leaders daughters from being whores.

The reason you won’t find such a verse is because of economic survival. The Bible can be summed up in 2 words, Choose life. This explains why the Egyptians who demanded to be made slaves were not morally condemned. And it explains why there is no verse morally condemninG prostitution, per se.

Now you have jumped the shark, trying to distinguish between a whore and a prostitute

Of course there’s a distinction! A prostitute doesn’t do it for free, to satisfy her sexual needs.
A whore doesn't do it for free, although in our time a loose woman is called a whore when the KJV uses that word it means prostitute. In fact it's translated prostitute in modern versions

Per Xaviera Hollander in her classic biography, The Happy Hooker, prostitutes (well, at least the higher-class call girls such as herself) know to keep business and pleasure separate.

Jesus is silent on the matter. The prohibition is adultery, having sex with a married person, which is different from the evolution condemning "extra marital sex." Let's examine 3 verses:
  1. Genesis 38:11-30. Judah having with Tamar, his daughter-in-law, dressed as a prostitute
  2. Judges 16:1 Samson has sex in Gaza with a prostitute.
  3. Proverbs 6:26 (NOG) A prostitute’s price is only a loaf of bread, but a married woman hunts for your life itself.
NOTE: What these 3 verses have in common is there is no moral condemnation against prostitution. (Some translations of Proverbs uses the term "whore" rather than prostitute.) The point of the chapter is cautioning against adultery and suggesting it is far cheaper to get sexual satisfaction by a whore or prostitute.

According to the NSRV study notes on the Commandment prohibiting coveting your neighbor's wife was considered a property crime, as the offspring in marriage was presumed to be from the husband and adultery violates this social contract.

And let's not forget Biblical wives Sara (The wife of Abraham), Leah and Rachel (wives of Jacob) had their servants have sex with their husbands. Yes, it was not for sexual satisfaction but procreation. Still the point is no Biblical condemnation for "extra marital sex." This article explains Dinah may not have been raped but "debased" by Shechem, and her brothers were enraged that her bride price would drop. And it explains why he wanted to marry her, overcome with passion not guilt over a sex crime. Let's examine passages in the NT:
  • 1 COR 7. Allows marriage to prevent vague "sexual immorality." v 6, Paul admits his words are not God’s command.
  • Other verses also speak vaguely about "sexual immorality" that some translations impose church doctrine prohibiting "fornication," which is not the same thing. (Acts 15:20; 1 Corinthians 5:1; 6:13, 18; 10:8; 2 Corinthians 12:21; Galatians 5:19; Ephesians 5:3; Colossians 3:5; 1 Thessalonians 4:3; Jude 7) Speaking of property crimes, "sexual immorality" must include rape and under age sex, which again is not the same thing as fornication.
IF "sexual immorality" includes consensual sex of unmarried adults, which fornication is, how do you reconcile that with the 3 verses originally cited?
IF you claim the NT set a higher standard, then that is the equivalent of yet another new law but Christ did not give us this higher standard. The only new law Jesus gave is in John 13, about love as he loved. Therefore, claiming the NT set a higher standard on this topic is eisegesis. We may conclude sex in marriage is preferred, as Paul wrote in 1 Cor 7, but not commanded by God. Thoughts?
Wow… my thoughts? I’ve read your argument, but you are attempting to use a legal loophole to justify a lifestyle that is fundamentally opposed to the holiness required of a follower of Christ. First, I have to ask: do you actually identify as a believer? I ask because your entire premise is based on finding a "gap" in the law rather than seeking the sanctification of your soul. You are treating the Bible like a courtroom manual where "if it isn't explicitly forbidden, it must be allowed," but the Christian life is not about seeing what we can get away with—it is about holiness. To argue that prostitution is "biblical" because you can't find a specific verse that satisfies your criteria is not theology; it is a desperate attempt to rationalize the flesh. If you are truly in Christ, your goal should be to reflect His purity, not to find a scriptural excuse to indulge in the very things the Spirit calls us to flee. Wow. ….

Strawman argument. Nowhere in the OP is that the point of discussion.

If you want to limit the discussion to “a lifestyle that fundamentally meets the holiness to be a follower of Christ,“ feel free to start such a thread. Anyone with a rudimentary understanding of reading and logic can tell “The book of X doesn’t say Y” is not the same thing as saying no book (of the Bible) says Y. See post #31.

Your attempt to pivot to "logic" and "strawman arguments" is a classic diversion. The point of the discussion is whether prostitution is biblical. Because the Bible defines the believer's life by holiness and purity, any argument suggesting that paying for sex is "biblical" is, by definition, an argument against holiness. That is not a strawman; that is the core of the issue.

You are focusing on whether "The book of X says Y," treating the Bible like a set of disjointed rules rather than a unified revelation of God's character. God's character is holy. His command to His people is to be holy. Therefore, any "logic" you use to legitimize the exploitation of others for sexual pleasure is not biblical logic—it is carnal logic. You can argue about forum posts and "rudimentary reading" all you want, but it won't change the fact that you are trying to use the Word of God to excuse a sin that the Holy Spirit condemns.

Projecting. ”Biblical” and the criteria you came up with is not the same. All squares are rectangles but not all rectangles are squares.

That is not a strawman; that is the core of the issue.

No, it’s a Strawman. Don’t blame me if you don’t understand the OP.

not biblical logic—it is carnal logic.

Hey, you can spend your time playing with analogies about squares and rectangles, but that doesn't change the spiritual reality of this conversation. You are treating the Bible like a logic puzzle to be solved, while I am treating it as the Word of the Living God.

While you're preoccupied with whether I "understand the OP," the actual issue remains: you are attempting to legitimize the solicitation of prostitutes using a set of criteria you invented. No amount of "logic" or "squares and rectangles" can make a sin holy. You can claim I don't understand your post, but the truth is you don't understand the call to holiness. I'm not interested in a debate over terminology; I'm interested in the truth.
