Btw.....off topic......how do I get email notifications when somebody replies to a post?

Is that available on this forum?

Yes we can.

On some sites as you know...we can click something at the bottom of our post. It also comes up if we click "Watch Thread" on top right . You can just "watch thread" or watch thread AND "with notifications"

Okay, I just tried it out and it works.

Go to top right of this thread and click on the "Unwatch thread" ( under the word "Featured")
Then obviously it will then change to "Watch Thread" so, Click on Watch Thread...and it will then have a box that says- "watch thread" and also you will see that the "without notifications" has a check mark.
Uncheck that...and then you should get notified when someone posts in the thread.

The garden: Why the conflict between Joel and Isaiah?

Joel 3:9-10
[9] Proclaim ye this among the Gentiles; Prepare war, wake up the mighty men, let all the men of war draw near; let them come up: [10] Beat your plowshares into swords, and your pruninghooks into spears: let the weak say, I am strong.

Joel 3:13-14
[13] Put ye in the sickle, for the harvest is ripe: come, get you down; for the press is full, the vats overflow; for their wickedness is great. [14] Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision: for the day of the Lord is near in the valley of decision.

---
Isaiah 2:2-4
[2] And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the Lord's house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it. [3] And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord , to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem. [4] And he shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.

It says - He saw a fig tree with leaves...was hungry and He came to the tree expecting to find fruit, (because the tree was displaying leaves.)
Because there, the fruit comes before or with the leaves.

Thought of this one also in reguards to your quote.

Malachi 3:11
[11] And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the Lord of hosts.

Oh sorry...it does for me. :(

Anyone else with an idea how to get notifications?
There should be something in our Profile Preference set up page.
Have you check your settings on your Profile?

Adam:

And the Lord God planted a garden.
God put Man (Adam) in the garden to keep and dress the garden.

The tree of the knowledge of good and evil: Iniquity was found in Adam. Adam was driven from the garden.

Genesis 3:23-24
[23] Therefore the Lord God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken. [24] So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword (the Word/Christ) which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life. (Christ)

Christ:

Jesus Christ is the truth and the way and life.
Christ is the Gardener, Christ is the vine, the husbandman...
He dungs.
He prunes.
He cuts.
He fertilizes.
He plows.
He breaks up the clods.
He grafts in again.
He dresses and keeps the garden.
The Kingdom:

Matthew 13:37-40
[37] He answered and said unto them, He that soweth the good seed is the Son of man; [38] The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one ; [39] The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels. [40] As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the end of this world.

Luke 13:18-19
[18] Then said he, Unto what is the kingdom of God like? and whereunto shall I resemble it? [19] It is like a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and cast into his garden; and it grew, and waxed a great tree; and the fowls of the air lodged in the branches of it.

John 19:41-42
[41] Now in the place where he was crucified there was a garden; and in the garden a new sepulchre, wherein was never man yet laid. [42] There laid they Jesus therefore because of the Jews' preparation day ; for the sepulchre was nigh at hand.

John 20:15-16
[15] Jesus saith unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? whom seekest thou? She, supposing him to be the gardener, saith unto him, Sir, if thou have borne him hence, tell me where thou hast laid him, and I will take him away. [16] Jesus saith unto her, Mary. She turned herself, and saith unto him, Rabboni; which is to say, Master.

Ezekiel 36:34-35
[34] And the desolate land shall be tilled, whereas it lay desolate in the sight of all that passed by. [35] And they shall say, This land that was desolate is become like the garden of Eden; and the waste and desolate and ruined cities are become fenced, and are inhabited.

Isaiah 66:16-17
[16] For by fire and by his sword will the Lord plead with all flesh: and the slain of the Lord shall be many. [17] They that sanctify themselves, and purify themselves in the gardens behind one tree in the midst, eating swine's flesh, and the abomination, and the mouse, shall be consumed together, saith the Lord .

Isaiah 61:11
[11] For as the earth bringeth forth her bud, and as the garden causeth the things that are sown in it to spring forth; so the Lord God will cause righteousness and praise to spring forth before all the nations.

Joel 2:3
[3] A fire devoureth before them; and behind them a flame burneth: the land is as the garden of Eden before them, and behind them a desolate wilderness; yea, and nothing shall escape them.

Isaiah 51:2-3
[2] Look unto Abraham your father, and unto Sarah that bare you: for I called him alone, and blessed him, and increased him. [3] For the Lord shall comfort Zion: he will comfort all her waste places; and he will make her wilderness like Eden, and her desert like the garden of the Lord ; joy and gladness shall be found therein, thanksgiving, and the voice of melody.

Deuteronomy 8:7-8
[7] For the Lord thy God bringeth thee into a good land, a land of brooks of water, of fountains and depths that spring out of valleys and hills; [8] A land of wheat, and barley, and vines, and fig trees, and pomegranates; a land of oil olive, and honey;

Deuteronomy 24:20-21
[20] When thou beatest thine olive tree, thou shalt not go over the boughs again: it shall be for the stranger, for the fatherless, and for the widow. [21] When thou gatherest the grapes of thy vineyard, thou shalt not glean it afterward: it shall be for the stranger, for the fatherless, and for the widow.

Deuteronomy 28:39
[39] Thou shalt plant vineyards, and dress them , but shalt neither drink of the wine, nor gather the grapes ; for the worms shall eat them.

James 5:7-8
[7] Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain. [8] Be ye also patient; stablish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh.

OUR GARDEN

Our garden sown the way we choose
with colours bright or gentle hues
and fragrant scents that stop the din
from mindless chatter deep within

Clear sounds of life in joyful song
a melody that ears for long
the soothing of a forest brook
begs one to have another look

Or gardens that in disarray
have tangled weeds with thorns and prey
or wily vines that choke and trip
as cursing sounds spit from ones lip

In latitudes where rain is scant
and stony soil has dusty plants
the harvest shared with friend or foe
are repetitious tales of woe

My life, my garden, my treasure chest
draws from my tongue what’s in my breast
an anchor held by solid rock
or desert sands and out of stock.

Hello @VictoryinJesus,

I thought you may like this, it is a quote from the appendix of my Bible, by Dr. E.W. Bullinger.
--------------
"He shall be like a tree
planted by the rivers of water."

(Psalm 1:3)

The simile in this verse tells us that the man who meditates in God's word is planted and protected, just as a tree in a garden is cared for as a "tree of the field" is not.

"The king's heart is in the hand of the LORD,
as the rivers of water: He turneth it whithersoever He will"
-
(Prov. 21:1)

* The King's heart, as the rivers of water, is in the hand of the Lord

* The expression "rivers of water" is in the Hebrew (palgey mayim) ‘Palgey’ means - ‘divisions of‘. Palgey mayim is the technical term for the little channels, or gullies, of water which divide the Eastern garden into small squares of about 12 feet each, for purposes of irrigation. Hence the word is used for any little channel by which the water is distributed or divided, especially the channels which divide up a garden. It is used also of the trickling of tears. In Psa.1:3 the man who meditates in the law of God is like a tree planted by ‘the palgey mayim‘, (ie., in a garden), where it will have a sure supply of water and the constant care of the gardener! Not left out in the plain to shift for itself: to thrive if it gets water, and to die if it does not!.

* These little channels were filled by the gardener with water from the spring, or well, or fountain, which every Eastern garden must possess: and then the water was sent first into one channel, then into another, by the simple movement of his foot:

"the land whither thou goest in to possess it,
is not as the land of Egypt from whence ye came out,
where thou sowedst thy seed, and waterdst it with thy foot,
as a garden of herbs"

(Deut. 11:10).

* The gardener did not deign to use a tool, or to stoop down and use his hands. By simply moving the foot he dammed up one little stream, or by a similar movement he released the water in another. So,

"The king's heart is in the hand of the Lord as ‘the palgey mayim’ (are in the hand of the gardner):
He turneth it whithersoever He will."

* The teaching of the passage then is that just as the little channels of water in a garden are turned about by the gardener by the simple movement of his foot, so the king's heart is as easily turned about by the Lord. "withersoever He wills."

* Oh how full of comfort for ourselves, for our friends, for our children, to know this, and to be assured of it!

* Example: "On that night could not the king sleep" (Est. 6:1).
A sleepless night! The king's heart turned - the law of the Medes and Persians reversed - and Israel delivered.

* Oh how simple! Let us never again limit His almighty power - for it is almighty power that is required to turn the heart of man. We know how difficult it is to convince even a friend on the simplest matter of fact. But let us remember that the heart of even an Eastern despot is as easily turned by the LORD's mighty hand as the palgai mayim are turned by the simple movement of a gardener's foot.

One of the things the Bible points out is that the Garden or as it is said the Vineyard was taken over by tenants who disregarded God and killed the prophets that God sent and then God sent his Son to deal with them and they got kicked out of the Land.
Now this mob who got empowered over the Vineyard, they are the ones who crept in unawares, so this mob who got a foot hold into Israel worked to destroy Israel and Judah, undermining the true Israel, the Servants of God.
The same has happened with Christianity there is a Satanic mob who are working to undermine all and everything at it's roots nowadays, it is turning everything upside down, you name it ! firstly it's attacks on the Family bastardising everything ! the truth of Marriage is tuned on it's head for a start and I can go on about all that till the cows come home, pointing how it is all orchestrated and that it in fact only elevates deviates, that's truly what they have don.

Undermine Men make out that all men are trash drunken morons etc are portrayed 24/7.

Undermine Women, make them all out to be just sluts etc and bastardise who they truly are for a great con job that's being done on them.

Undermine our children and teach them sex initiation under a guise of what ever they can come up with, in a headline gimmickry like safe schools etc and this trick works a treat, how can one come up against such headlines, you are cast out as a idiot for questioning them directly and as it is with gimmicks most people swallow it.

They have created an adulterous generation who are under great delusions, peddling to hate our culture not to mention our children are taught to despise our Nations history and not to mention just peddling that their economic is the main answer to all problems, when in fact Jesus is the only true answer to all that.

They use there freedom as a cloak for malice, work to destroy our national banks.

They build up a State within a State, so as to enslave us and such are not elected by the people at all.

Then you have simply misread the book of Job. Time to go back and study it carefully.
what did he rebound (repent) from? twice i guess? Seems to be key there.
Sacrificing for his children is an obvious no-no, but he did not repent of that, exactly...

we discussed this several months ago in a 'Job' thread too, but i detected some remorse at letting go of the notion that Job is about "why bad things happen to good people," so i just let it go; but any insight would be cool.

Tbh it feels like a treatise on Codependence to me now, particularly with the sacrificing for one's children who end up 'dying,' and the rebounding (repenting) of something that God appears to condone or even praise in the next sentence...but then it's hard to find ppl who have a decent def of 'codependence' too; which, in such a codependent society, one would think it would be a subject taught in HS or something even. But almost no one even knows what it means?
