ps77, I don't know where you got that. It is not in the Bible. If Christ’s prophecy about how long He would be in the grave was wrong …as taught (Fri. evening till Sun morning that would make Christ a liar and we wouldn’t be able to trust Him or the Bible.)Everything we believe hangs on the precise fulfillment of this prophecy! The 36 hrs. that, that "Jesus" spent in the grave automatically disqualifies him from being the Jesus of the Bible.Jesus’ prophecy about how long He would be in the grave is told to us by three of the gospel writers. 1.) Lk 11:29 And while the crowds were thickly gathered together, He began to say, “This is an evil generation. It seeks a sign, and NO sign will be given to it EXCEPTthe sign of Jonah the prophet. And again in Mat.2.) Mat 16:4 A wicked and adulterous generation seeks after a sign and NO sign shall be given to it EXCEPT the sign of the prophet Jonah.” And He left them and departed. Now in Mat.12:38 Jesus explained what this sign was.3.) Mat 12:38 Then some of the scribes and Pharisees answered, saying,“Teacher, we want to see a sign from You.” 39 But He answered and said to them, “An evil and adulterous generation seeks after a sign, and NO sign will be given to it EXCEPT the sign of the prophet Jonah. 40 For as Jonah was THREE days and THREE nights in the belly of the great fish, so will the Son of Man be THREE days and THREE nights in the heart of the earth. Now let’s go see what 3 days and 3 nights meant in Jonah’s case.Jonah 1:17 Now the LORD had prepared a great fish to swallow Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of the fish (three days and three nights.)The word translated “three” (Strong’s # 7969) means, well...3. The word translated “days” (Strong’s # 3117) means the hot part of the day, i.e. from sunrise to sunset. The word translated “nights” (Strong’s # 3915) means away from the light, i.e. night. Sounds like 72 hrs.Now we could point to other things to show that 3 days and 3 nights means3 days and 3 nights. Such as the creation account where God plainly callsthe light day and the dark night and He calls a combination of the two the 1st day the 2nd day and so on six times.Or we could read where Jesus said “are there not 12 hrs. in a day?” and byimplication 12 hrs. in a night. In studying this subject we must have a basic understanding of God’s annual Sabbaths. The 1st “Day of Unleavened Bread” is the day after the Passover this explains the 2 Sabbaths mentioned. To learn the basics read Lev. 23.Passover is always a “preparation day” because the Passover is always the day before the first annual Sabbath of the year. That Sabbath is “The First Day of Unleavened Bread” (Lev.23:4-8) If you every want to understand this you will have to learn about God’s annual “Holy Days” these days are annual Sabbaths. These Sabbaths are also called “High Days” like in Jo.19:31. These things are vital to understand, if you want understand the length of time Christ was in the grave. Now we know what Jesus said... and we know what He meant...and if we look in 1Cor 15 we read that the Bible says these things happened just like Jesus said.1Cor 15: 3 For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, (most professing Christians believe that)4 and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day… according to the Scripture,(but they won’t believe that) Boggles the mind doesn’t it ?Now that we know what the Scriptures say would happen and that the Scriptures say it did happen just that way…We should be able to follow the story thread if we read the various Scriptures on the subject… So let’s read the story straight through.I’m sure you can find these scriptures with just a little reading of the accounts in Mat. Mk. Lk. and Jo.31 Therefore, because it was the Preparation Day, (the Passover) that the bodies should not remain on the cross on the Sabbath (for that Sabbath was a high day,) the Jews asked Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away.32 Then the soldiers came and broke the legs of the first and of the other who was crucified with Him.33 But when they came to Jesus and saw that He was already dead, they did not break His legs.38 After this, Joseph of Arimathea, being a disciple of Jesus, but secretly, for fear of the Jews, asked Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus; and Pilate gave him permission. So he came and took the body of Jesus.39 And Nicodemus, who at first came to Jesus by night, also came, bringing a mixture of myrrh and aloes, of about a hundred pounds.53 Then he took it down, wrapped it in linen, and laid it in a tomb that was hewn out of the rock, where no one had ever lain before. 54 That day was the Preparation, and the Sabbath drew near. (So that would be late in the afternoon on the Passover.)55 And the women who had come with Him from Galilee followed after, and they observed the tomb and how His body was laid.1 Now when the Sabbath was past, (the 1st Day of Unleavened Bread) Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices, that they might come and anoint Him. 56 Then they returned and prepared spices and fragrant oils. And they rested on the Sabbath (that is the weekly Sabbath) according to the commandment. (The 4th commandment.)1 Now on the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they, and certain other women with them, came to the tomb bringing the spices which they had prepared.3 And they said among themselves, “Who will roll away the stone from the door of the tomb for us?” 4 But when they looked up, they saw that the stone had been rolled away—for it was very large.2And behold, a severe earthquake had occurred, (sometime before they got there)for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and came and rolled away the stone and sat upon it. (NAS)3 Then they went in and did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. 4 And it happened, as they were greatly perplexed about this, that behold, two men stood by them in shining garments.5 Then, as they were afraid and bowed their faces to the earth, they said to them, “Why do you seek the living among the dead?6 He is not here, but is risen! (Past Tense) Remember how He spoke to you when He was still in Galilee:7 saying, ‘The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.’”7 Go quickly and tell His disciples that He is risen from the dead, and indeed He is going before you into Galilee; there you will see Him.”8 So they went out quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy, and ran to bring His disciples word.So let’s review…Jesus was crucified and died according to the Scriptures.2nd He was buried on Passover evening (Wednesday) just before the First Day of Unleavened Bread began. (Thursday)3rd When that annual Sabbath ended 1 night and 1 day had past.4th During the daylight portion of the following day the women bought spices and prepared them. That evening 1 more night and 1 more day had past.5th Then they rested on the weekly Sabbath (Saturday) and by the time the weekly Sabbath was over 1 more night and 1 more day had past. That is 3 days and 3 nights. Then about 12 hrs. later the women went to the tomb only to have an angel tell them that Jesus had risen as He had said He would. 72 Hours after His burial.Jesus was right again; imagine that!!

You are correct...... Wed to Sat Day of the Resurrection and Crucifixion How do make God a liar when He says in His Scripture that He changes not (Mal 3:6). If an event pertaing to the work of His Son and His people was not foreshadowed, then it is a lie. God said He would not leave Himself without witness (Acts 14:17). The Easter observance and changing the Sabbath to Sunday are without witness. There is no First Covenant reference to either. This fact cannot be excused and ignored because this the standard God gave mankind to determine who is giving the message or doing the work, Him or the devil.Everything related to God dealing with the salvation of man is tied to a system of dates that foreshadow, fulfill, then repeat themselves in a concrete chain of events that give believers insight into God's plan for man. Everything symbolism has definite meaning that is critical to the life of a believer, ignorance of such items leave a believer venerable and unsatisfied. Jesus was sacrificed as the Passover Lamb. This was observed in a Holy Day established God (Feast of Unleavened Bread). The Feast of Unleavened Bread was a threefold system of Passover, Unleavened Bread, and First Fruits. This all begins with understanding that the Biblical day begins at sundown, not 12 mid night in Roman solar calendar. 1Jesus enters Jerusalem on the 10th day of Nissan which fulfills Exodus 12:3-7 as the Lamb being picked on the 10th day and killed four days later at twilight. 2.Passover begins on the 14 day of Nissan (Tuesday for Gentiles) at sundown when Jesus ate the Passover Meal with His disciples (Luke 22:15,16). Passover was not a public convocation, but a private at home event led by the head of a household, hence why Jesus observed it as such. 3.Jesus is taken captive during the same night and tried on the 14th day of Nissan Tuesday. 4.Jesus is crucified and dies at the 9th hour (3pm) on 14th day of Nissan (Wednesday for Gentiles) still on the Day of Passover. (Matt 27:50-55) 5.Jesus had to put in the grave immediately because the Sabbath was approaching and people could not be buried on the Sabbath; but this was no regular Sabbath, this was one of the High Sabbaths (Feast of Unleavened Bread). Feast of Unleavened Bread was a public event every male was command to attend and centered on the Temple and lead by the Priest. Ex 12:14-17 6.Feast of Unleavened Bread began on 15th of Nissan (Wednesday for Gentiles)at sundown but was proceeded by a day of Preparation which was assigned to all regular Sabbaths and High Sabbaths (Luke 23-53-56). This preparation Day was on the same day as the day of Passover. 7.Jesus stayed in the grave exactly as Jonah stayed in the big fish full three nights and three full days for a seventy two hours period. (Matt 12:38-40) This covers Wednesday night to Thursday day, Thursday night to Friday day, and Friday night to lastly Saturday day in Gentile days. This is a full three days and nights and flat three day period. The traditional belief is that He died on Friday and was resurrected on Sunday; however, this does not cover a complete period of three days and three nights. The best you get is three days and two nights if you do some crazy math. 8.The regular weekly Sabbath during the same week began on the 17th of Nissan Friday at sundown (Ex 20:8-10) and ended Saturday evening right before sundown. Jesus was resurrected before sundown on Saturday evening. He never stayed in the grave until sundown which would have ran into Sunday and made his stay in the grave 4 days. Jesus was resurrected on Sabbath (Saturday).........

That Sabbath is “The First Day of Unleavened Bread” (Lev.23:4-8)
Good post overall. The only comment I would make is that while the NT refers the first day of unleavened as a 'shabat', it is not actually a shabat per VaYikra [Leviticus].Lev. 23:7 First day of Unleavened Bread: miqra'_qodesh [sacred assembly]; mele'ket `avodah [(no) regular/labor/service work/occupation/business].Lev. 23:8 Last day of Unleavened Bread: miqra'_qodesh; mele'ket `avodah.Contrast VaYikra 23:27-32 Yom Kippurim [Day of Atonement(s)]: miqra'_qodesh; mela'kah lo'; shabat shabaton.

Question: Was 'Jesus' the Passover Lamb? Or: Did 'Jesus' eat the Passover sacrifice? He can not 'have done/be' both. The reason for this is that the Passover sacrifice has been appointed to be upon a certain day of a certain month at a specified time [BeMidbar (Numbers) 9].Yes, Passover was allowed to be observed the following month for certain reasons. Why, of all the 'feasts' was only this one allowed a 'second chance' to be observed and that only for certain specific reasons? What were those reasons? Would those reasons have allowed another [or more] to have taken certain actions without fear of transgressing the law? 'Jesus' could not have eaten the sacrifice and yet later be the sacrifice. This is an all too common misconception, however it is one that is easily arrived at if our knowledge with regard to the Torah [instruction] is not complete.(manichunter)

The day of the Passover. Which was to occur at a specified time.John 18:28 They lead Jesus therefore from Caiaphas into the Praetorium: and it was early; and they themselves entered not into the Praetorium, that they might not be defiled, but might eat the passover.Good post overall though.

I thought I said that, sorry, I forgot, yes their is always to 2 Sabbaths during the Passover week. One is a High Sabbath (Day of Pentecost) and the other a regular Sabbath. Then seven days later is the tail end is another High Sabbath.

Please reread the former post. The first and last days of unleavened are not 'shabats'. Yes, they are days of sacred assembly, yes, they are days of no regular work, however, they are not shabats. If we look to Shemot [Exodus] 12:16:Shemot 12:16 And in the first day there shall be to you a holy convocation, and in the seventh day a holy convocation; no manner of work shall be done in them, save that which every man must eat, that only may be done by you.Based upon what you state above, it seems to contradict your former post. For the "High Sabbath" you spoke of you connected as being "the High Sabbaths (Feast of Unleavened Bread)".The first and last days of unleavened are days of no regular work, but they are not 'shabats'. Yes, the first day of unleavened is referred unto as a "High Sabbath" in the NT, however if we look into these things, we will see that it is not a 'shabat'. If we consider these things though, we may understand why while they were not 'shabats', they were considered as such.Likewise "High Sabbath (Day of Pentecost)" while a day of no regular work is also not a shabat. Nor does "Pentecost" fall within the "Feast of Unleavened Bread". It is sometime later. However, I do see and understand where you are coming from, for it is another common misconception. The "Feast of Weeks" culminating with "Pentecost" is not directly tied to the "Feast of Unleavened Bread", nor is it required to begin within the timeframe of the "Feast of Unleavened Bread".Please take some time to examine VaYikra [Leviticus] 23 in detail:In Leviticus 23, we have each of the miqra'ey_qodesh [assemblies/meetings/convocations of sacred/holy] laid out for us.I will briefly outline the terms used of each of these days from Leviticus 23 here so that they may be clear for all to see:Lev. 23:3 The weekly shabat: shabat shabaton; miqra'_qodeshLev. 23:7 First day of Unleavened Bread: miqra'_qodesh; mele'ket `avodah [(no) regular/labor/service work/occupation/business]Lev. 23:8 Last day of Unleavened Bread: miqra'_qodesh; mele'ket `avodahLev. 23:21 Pentecost: miqra'_qodesh; mele'ket `avodahLev. 23:24 Feast of Trumpets: shabaton; miqra'_qodeshLev. 23:27-32 Yom Kippurim [Day of Atonement(s)]: miqra'_qodesh; mela'kah lo'; shabat shabatonLev. 23:35 First day of the Feast of Tabernacles: miqra'_qodesh; mele'ket `avodahLev. 23:36 Last day of the Feast of Tabernacles: miqra'_qodesh; mele'ket `avodahAside from the weekly shabat, only Yom Kippurim is referred unto as a shabat shabaton. The "Feast of Trumpets" is referred unto as a shabaton. All the rest of the "High Days" are simply days of assembly and days of no regular work in which food preparation is allowed.

HEY Richard, Is there two different meals associated with passover and unleaven bread? I have been taught this, but not the specifics and how it applies.

I do not have time this morning, however I will get back to you after shabat. Perhaps you would be so kind as to be more specific with regard to the above.Passover [pardon the expression], 'kicks off' the Feast of Unleavened Bread. I can understand why and from where what you have been taught comes from, for such is necessary in order to attempt to be able to say that 'Jesus' both ate and is the Passover. If you would be so kind as to expound a little from your POV, I will write and expound from my POV.May you indeed be blessed.

I was hoping for a little discussion. And from the 15th day, we are to eat unleavened bread for seven days [cf Lev 23:6].The Passover is to be eaten with unleavened bread [cf Exo 12:8].The Passover is slain between 3 and 5 pm on the 14th. By the time it is roasted whole and eaten, it is after sundown and the 15th has begun. Thus the Passover is eaten with unleavened bread and unleavened bread is eaten for seven days. Passover is the first meal eaten during unleavened bread. We can go into a great amount of depth regarding this if necessary.Quid pro quo.Edit: One little note which seems to be overlooked by so many; Exodus 12:42; Deuteronomy 16:7b.

Well heck, if that's all ya got going, you should have plenty of extra time. You don't really need to sleep do ya? Not a problem. Take your time, get some rest when you can and I will look forward to continuing this as you have time.
