God demanding babies to be killed?

"Thus saith the LORD of hosts, I remember that which Amalek did to Israel, how he laid wait for him in the way, when he came up from Egypt. Now go and smite Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not; but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and ass." (I Samuel 15:2-3)The answer I give is that God is working out a grander plan. Greater than the life of any one generation, people, or person. And, He is sovereignly good through all of it. He is sovereign to know who and where he places a soul. He has complete authority over body and soul... all the souls of men, and He will prove Himself 100% righteous in the end. People will easily point out what God did, sovereignly, to the life of a certain people or person... saying that it might be wicked... but they neglect to fact that God has paid for the sins of ALL people, so that we might all have ETERNAL LIFE, which is much greater and much more important.In the OT, God paints us pictures through the events in the OT... pictures that were acted out literally, in the flesh, which we now make spiritual application with. Goodness is not merely sustaining another's physical life... goodness it is determined by (and is in obeying) every Word of God.Amalek, for example, was to be slaughtered... everyone, from man, to woman, to child, and beast. Amalek was notorious for attacking Israel from the back of the pack (if I recall). Amalek is a picture of sin (or evil) that creeps up us, as it did on the Israelites then. We are to crush sin, and resist the devil completely, making no provision for the flesh to get us (Romans 13:14). We are to smash sin, and the tendencies of sin, everywhere... from the largest forms, to the smallest froms, leaving nothing left. We are to treat the sin that would creep up on us, and attack us from behind, with no chance. We make no provision for the flesh.The full story of the fight w/ Amalek is found in Exodus 17. It can be seen that when Moses' hands were lifted up, the Israelites prevailed... when they fell... the Israelites would lose. But, each time Aaron and Hur would lift Moses' hands, Israel would win again. This shows us that the battles is won, not by the physical powers that be, but by the power of prayer... of worship... and intercession. God gives the victory, while we just stand back, with our arms raised (so to speak), as He works. We battle not against flesh and blood. God paints us pictures, so that we understand... and whatever happend to the Amalekites (for example) or any other people... was necessary, and good.

I had heard that these people were from the seed of Satan....the giants. If they were then so were there children. God was trying to destroy this seed, like he did in the time of Noah.

In the O.T. God commands his people to go to war with other peoples at various times. I know there is at least one time that they were to bash the young childrens heads with rocks to kill them. I am sure the people he wanted killed were evil, but why kill the innocent children so inhumanely? This is important because my son is losing faith because of this.
God knew some of those babies would grow up and avenge there parents death. sometimes things that seem evil have rooted sin. When a king was overthrown and killed all of his close aids and close friends would be killed because the would be future problems for the new king. Sin with roots. generational sin.
