I was making a statement based in Biblical teaching and walking in the way of Jesus ChristHow dare you come here claiming to be Christian and asking we believe we are not to help the poor and needy and sick the less fortunate. May God be your judge
I'm asking you for a Scripture to back up your opinion. If you can give me that Scripture, please do. If you cannot, please admit that you're operating on personal opinion.

Question: "What does the Bible say about Christian tithing?"Answer: Tithing is an issue that many Christians struggle with. In many churches tithing is over-emphasized. At the same time, many Christians refuse to submit to the Biblical exhortation in regards to making offerings to the Lord. Tithing / giving is intended to be a joy, a blessing. Sadly, that is rarely the case in the church today.Tithing is an Old Testament concept. The tithe was a requirement of the law in which all Israelites were to give 10% of everything they earned and grew to the Tabernacle / Temple (Leviticus 27:30; Numbers 18:26; Deuteronomy 14:24; 2 Chronicles 31:5). Some understand the Old Testament tithe as a method of taxation to provide for the needs of the priests and Levites of the sacrificial system. The New Testament nowhere commands, or even recommends that Christians submit to a legalistic tithe system. Paul states that believers should set aside a portion of their income in order to support the church (1 Corinthians 16:1-2).The New Testament nowhere assigns a certain percentage of income to set aside, but only says it is to be “in keeping with his income” (1 Corinthians 16:2). The Christian church has essentially taken the 10% figure from the Old Testament tithe and applied it as a “recommended minimum” for Christians in their giving. Although the New Testament does not identify a specific amount or percentage to give, it does talk about the importance and benefits of giving. They should give as they are able, “in keeping with his income.” Sometimes that means giving more than a tithe, sometime that may mean giving less than a tithe. It all depends on the ability of the Christian and the needs of the church. Each and every Christian should diligently pray and seek God’s wisdom as to whether to participate in tithing and/or for how much he or she should give (James 1:5). “Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver” (2 Corinthians 9:7).
I want to remind you that in the 1st Corinthians passages, the apostle Paul is NOT telling Christians to just give randomly, and to whomever they see fit. He was encouraging them to set aside generous offerings so that he would later collect and either take, or send, to Jerusalem. There was NO indication that the early Christians were to just haphazardly give whenever, wherever, and to whomever. There was to be the collective wisdom of Church leadership behind the distribution. Also, Proverbs 19:17 does NOT say to "give money to the poor."

This is where bthe 10% comes from what was it for Lev 23:22 And when ye reap the harvest of your land, thou shalt not make clean riddance of the corners of thy field when thou reapest, neither shalt thou gather any gleaning of thy harvest: thou shalt leave them unto the poor, and to the stranger: I [am] the LORD your God.

Leaving the corners of the fields unharvested was not part of the tithe. The field corners were to be left unharvested so that the poor & widows could go out there themselves and harvest it.

You believe what ever you like its your soul you can tell it to God you are a Pharisee if you don't know what that means read your bible I'm done here I no sense casting pearls before swineYou are to tithe where you learn and where its used doing Gods work period. If a soup kitchen, is doing Gods work you can give a portion of your tithe there thats the spirit of Christs teaching.

Stop being so snotty. It's wholly un-Christian.And stop calling me names. That too is both immature and un-Christian.What is obvious is that you cannot back up your opinion with Scripture, and when pressed, you immediately get nasty about it. Every point you have brought up has been resolutely refuted. Perhaps it's YOU who needs to go humbly before the Lord.I've obviously picked a scab off of a very infected wound...

Mmm... ffbruce from what I've been viewing you have been causing some turmoil in the chat rooms. You will have an argument no matter what evidence is presented to you. I have disagreements with what people state on here. I see you're complaint on the fact of "opinion". To find these answers you want open a concordance: "tenth" and "tithe(s)" would only be a start.

I'm simply pointing out the absurdity of the "EVERYTHING I do is directly from the Bible!" approach coming from the KJVO Church Haters Club that hangs out here. I've been pointing out the FACT that the KJVO crowd is dead wrong in their reasoning, and the evidence behind their conclusions. Sure, prefer one translation. No problem. But to condemn all other translations as "of the devil" is absurd. And be honest about what's wrong in today's church families. No problem. But to be openly derogatory toward all clergy, and condemning of all churches as "teaching the traditions of men and not the Word of God!!!!!" is just downright ludicrous. In both cases, I'm calling people out on how terribly wrong these mindsets are.Hang around for awhile. You'll see what's really going on, then you'll leave too. Then, after being absent for about a month, you too will get a "We miss you, please come back!" email from this forum.

There are differences between versions of bibles. No doubt about that. Some very important scriptures have been tampered with revised versions of the bible. As I've stated I have plenty of disagreements of what christians think. To only know truth look to God. People lie. To look for understanding and wisodm is a good thing.

Mat 25:44 Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee? Mat 25:45 Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did [it] not to one of the least of these, ye did [it] not to me. Mat 25:46 And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.

Even when we speak and give advice and counsel, we have to make proper judgement that it is from the Lord. Calling people fools and stating scriptures to codemn someone I believe the Lord doesn't approve of. This is why only seeking God for these answers and truth is recommended.

That's a nice try, but again, Jesus was not talking about GIVING MONEY to any of those mentioned.Once again, you're failing to provide Scripture to back up your stated opinion that Christians are to just individually give money when and where we see fit.Can you understand what I'm saying? Or are you simply refusing to listen, because you dislike me so much?

Having true compassion for the needy, as modeled by Jesus (Mark 8:2), means we are aware of the need, we care about the people involved, and we are ready to act on their behalf. Having compassion on a needy brother is proof of the love of God within us (1 John 3:17). We honor God when we are kind to the needy (Proverbs 14:31).Christians should respond to global poverty and hunger with action. Of course, prayer for those in need is something every Christian can do. Beyond that, Christians should do all they can to alleviate the suffering caused by global poverty and hunger. Jesus said, “Sell your possessions and give to the poor. . . . For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also” (Luke 12:33-34). Like Tabitha, we should “always [be] doing good and helping the poor” (Acts 9:36).The believer who selflessly gives to the poor will be blessed by God. “He who is kind to the poor lends to the LORD, / and he will reward him for what he has done” (Proverbs 19:17). These divine blessings may be spiritual rather than material, but a reward is guaranteed—giving to the poor is an investment in eternity. There are several Christian relief organizations that work not only to combat global poverty and hunger, but also to share the gospel of Jesus Christ. Groups such as Compassion International strive to meet the needs of the total person, both physical and spiritual.Christians should respond to global poverty and hunger with hope. Believers can act on behalf of the poor with the confidence that they are helping further God’s work in the world: “I know that the LORD secures justice for the poor / and upholds the cause of the needy” (Psalm 140:12). Believers labor with the hope that Jesus will return, and “with righteousness he will judge the needy, / with justice he will give decisions for the poor of the earth” (Isaiah 11:4).Until that day of ultimate equity, Jesus said, “The poor you will always have with you” (Matthew 26:11). That being the case, we have unlimited opportunities—and the urgent obligation—to serve the Lord by serving others. Anyway we can whether with money or our hands or sharing our faith that is the way of Christ and what the Bible teaches all christians
