Exodus 20:11 For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

I just noticed that although our Father made....the heaven, the earth and the sea....He is not the God of the sea!

Genesis 24:3 And I will make thee swear by the LORD, the God of heaven, and the God of the earth, that thou shalt not take a wife unto my son of the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I dwell:

Revelation 11:4 These are the two olive trees, and the two candlesticks standing before the God of the earth.

He is the God of heaven and earth but not the sea. This must be seen spiritually....The two olive trees and two candlesticks are the two witnesses, the many two witnesses (two groups) and they are standing before Him even as they/we witness. In other words, we are with Him while still living in flesh. We are dwelling in heaven, standing before God, as we witness. Those that dwell on earth are not yet in heaven as His Spirit is not in them but He is their God.

Psalm 72:8 He shall have dominion also from sea to sea, and from the river unto the ends of the earth.

There too the sea is not part of God's dominion. All of the earth, to it's ends, is under His dominion but it goes from sea to sea...it is not inclusive of the seas. The earth is symbolic of people, those souls He wants to love Him. The sea, although made by Him, also speaks of people but as He isn't their God....Satan is the one they follow.

Revelation 12:12 Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.

Those that dwell in heaven (while in a flesh body...are spiritually alive) can rejoice. People that are still of the earth and those of the sea will experience Satan's great wrath...his great deception. We will be here but we are kept from his "hour of temptation" as we won't be tempted by his lies.

Revelation 6:8 And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.

Satan kills spiritually those of the earth (those of the sea are already dead spiritually) as the sword he uses is the Word...the word he twists to deceive. The hunger is for "hearing the words of the Lord," [Amos 8:11]. People will hear his words as he pretends to be so holy but not the true words of the Lord. The beasts of the earth are false teachers, false preachers, those that have taken the mark of the beast and they slay God's children with deception.

Revelation 20:11-14 And I saw a great white throne, and Him That sat on it, from Whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.

There are two judgments shown there. The judgment of the dead where they are judged on THEIR WORKS, and I believe they are those of the earth....righteous people but misled in this flesh life. Then we see the judgment of the dead of those from the sea, death and hell. The wicked! The elect, those that dwell in heaven, are not mentioned for they are of the first resurrection, "on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with Him a thousand years." [Rev.20:6]

21:1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was NO MORE SEA . :D

The wicked (the sea) are gone forever. The Pacific, Atlantic, etc are still here but...not the wicked.

Couldn't help but think of Psalm 89 amongst others as I read this. I don't know that I'd go so far as saying He is not Lord of the sea, but those verses are interesting. Yet Psalm 89 and others do attribute Lordly characteristics:

Psalm 89:9-10
You rule the raging of the sea; when its waves rise, you still them. You crushed Rahab like a carcass; you scattered your enemies with your mighty arm.

Rehab/Rahab is another name for Satan, and it gives him the attributes as operating in the sea - as does Job 41 with the Leviathan. So I do think you're on to a bit of something there. :)

It's the context, sometimes when heavens plural is used it includes the earth, but when in singular in is in opposition to. The sea can sometimes be understood as being people, sometimes not.......cool study though.

Thank you Denver....I didn't think of that connection and should have. :)

Isaiah 27:1 In that day the LORD with his sore and great and strong sword shall punish leviathan the piercing serpent, even leviathan that crooked serpent; and he shall slay the dragon that is in the sea.

And...thank you for the happy birthday note...I did have a wonderful one.

I only have one thing to say and it's written in the bible........

O LORD, our Lord, How excellent is Your name in all the earth, Who have set Your glory above the heavens!

Out of the mouth of babes and nursing infants You have ordained strength, Because of Your enemies, That You may silence the enemy and the avenger.

When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, The moon and the stars, which You have ordained,

What is man that You are mindful of him, And the son of man that You visit him?

For You have made him a little lower than the angels, And You have crowned him with glory and honor.

You have made him to have dominion over the works of Your hands; You have put all things under his feet,

All sheep and oxen— Even the beasts of the field,

The birds of the air, And the fish of the sea That pass through the paths of the seas.

O LORD, our Lord, How excellent is Your name in all the earth!

[Psalm 8]

Amen.

Hi Witness, :)

We're supposed to catch those fish passing through the sea to keep them away from the swine (false teachers) that He drowned in the sea.
