What is the state of the dead in the afterlife?

On another topic this discussion below was happening. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ St. SteVen said: Everyone who passes into the afterlife is physically dead. They leave their physical body behind. Everything else goes with them into the afterlife. The dead have...

Will you go to heaven when you die? - (or the other place)

St. SteVen said: Everyone who passes into the afterlife is physically dead. They leave their physical body behind. Everything else goes with them into the afterlife. The dead have spiritual bodies. The souls of the dead. That sounds like more work than I care to do on this...

Is Swearing a Violation of the Ten Commandments? - No. - Well, maybe... ???

Matthew 5:34-36 NIV But I tell you, do not swear an oath at all: either by heaven, for it is God’s throne; 35 or by the earth, for it is his footstool; or by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the Great King. 36 And do not swear by your head, for you cannot make even one hair white or black. [

Is Swearing a Violation of the Ten Commandments? - No. - Well, maybe... ???

Read this this morning. Tracks with this topic. Using God's name in vain. (for personal benefit) Hosea 4:15 NIV “Though you, Israel, commit adultery, do not let Judah become guilty. “Do not go to Gilgal; do not go up to Beth Aven.[a] And do not swear, ‘As surely as the Lord lives!’ [

Will you go to heaven when you die? - (or the other place)

St. SteVen said: There is another view on this. Born of water = natural childbirth. The context is discussing physical and spiritual life. Thus the comparisons. Birth and rebirth. [

How can consciousness cease when you are going to Sheol? (the realm of the dead) Isaiah 14:9 NIV The realm of the dead below is all astir to meet you at your coming; it rouses the spirits of the departed to greet you— all those who were leaders in the world; it makes them rise from...

@Wick Stick This scripture was posted in posts #82. FYI 1 Peter 1:3-5 ESV Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 to an inheritance that...

Will you go to heaven when you die? - (or the other place)

That's a good point. It really should happen then... But... Can we honestly say that a delayed baptism = NOT born again? There is another view on this. Born of water = natural childbirth. [

Will you go to heaven when you die? - (or the other place)

St. SteVen said: Why must we be born again? That's an interesting view. I've never associated it with baptism. Being raised evangelical, I understand "born again" as being transformed spiritually due to belief in Jesus Christ. A spiritual rebirth due to an encounter with...

Will you go to heaven when you die? - (or the other place)

St. SteVen said: Nor does he say, "YOU....... must be born again". "Or you will die in your sins".... That's quite a gap in your quote. Five chapters and seventeen verses. - LOL Have you ever heard of reasonable context? Why must we be born again? [

Will you go to heaven when you die? - (or the other place)

So you are misquoting Jesus now? I thought that only I held the honor of being misquoted by you. ??? Look at your post quoted above. Does Jesus say that you must be born again to be a Christian? (nope) Nor does he say, "YOU....... must be born again". "Or you will die in your sins"...

Hellfire and brimstone has given way to eternal separation from God. - Why?

He is actually ONLY a student of evangelical apologetics. And not earning very good grades, frankly. [
