Does the inclusion of the Sabbath prove that the Ten Commandments were for Israel alone?

There is no evidence that Abraham observed the Sabbath. What commands were given to Abraham? Adam and Eve were created on the sixth day. Did they observe the seventh day Sabbath? (after six days work) ??? What day would that be? [

Does the inclusion of the Sabbath prove that the Ten Commandments were for Israel alone?

The Sabbath originated with manna collection in Exodus chapter 16. No, it means to observe, a remembrance. (regular observance) They were supposed to remember that they were slaves in Egypt. Were you a slave in Egypt.? Deuteronomy 5:15 NIV Remember that you were slaves in Egypt and that the...

Does the inclusion of the Sabbath prove that the Ten Commandments were for Israel alone?

There is no evidence that the Israelites observed the Sabbath before Exodus chapter 16. (manna) [

Does the inclusion of the Sabbath prove that the Ten Commandments were for Israel alone?

The Sabbath was given by God to the Israelites alone through Moses. - To whom was the Sabbath commandment given? Exodus 31:13 NIV “Say to the Israelites, ‘You must observe my Sabbaths. This will be a sign between me and you for the generations to come, so you may know that I am the Lord, who...

Does the inclusion of the Sabbath prove that the Ten Commandments were for Israel alone?

I agree. My only objection is when someone tells me what day. [

Does the inclusion of the Sabbath prove that the Ten Commandments were for Israel alone?

There was another thing he wanted them to remember. (slaves in Egypt) Deuteronomy 5:14-15 NIV but the seventh day is a sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your male or female servant, nor your ox, your donkey or any of your...

The deconstructing of the law in the New Testament

Agree. I got a word for someone at church a week or two ago. It had never happened to me before. It was a bit scary. The Pastor asked for those who needed prayer to raise a hand. We were instructed to gather around those with raised hands right where they were. A young woman came over and...

The deconstructing of the law in the New Testament

Exactly. The "Identity Markers" are an external. Like a costume or mask that hides the true identity. [

Reader Poll - Would you be a Christian if there was no afterlife?

So, without the afterlife there would be no reason to follow Christ? Is that what you are saying? [

Ultimately, it's not a matter of who is right and who is wrong... (?)

If both are right, neither is wrong. [

The deconstructing of the law in the New Testament

Perhaps, but Jesus could have played the God card if He intended to make them binding. The word "But" indicates a change of direction. [

The deconstructing of the law in the New Testament

I think Jewish Christians kept the law because they were Jewish, not because they were Christians. Gentiles didn't keep the law because they were gentiles. The question about the gentiles and the law came up in Acts chapter 15 and the Jerusalem Council. The answer was "No!" [

Does the inclusion of the Sabbath prove that the Ten Commandments were for Israel alone?

Can't you rest without making it a religious thing? I sleep every day. (nap too) [

Does the inclusion of the Sabbath prove that the Ten Commandments were for Israel alone?

Whether the story was historically accurate or not, it provides some principles about where the knowledge of good and evil originated. I'm guessing there is mostly commonality there. What I would call God's law of human conscience. I do agree that is possible to gain shame from another...

Does the inclusion of the Sabbath prove that the Ten Commandments were for Israel alone?

What happened when A&E ate from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil? Was the shame they experienced a psychological construct built through a childhood socialization processes? [

The deconstructing of the law in the New Testament

I seem to remember something about God prohibiting King David to build the Temple, preferring rather his son Solomon? [

The deconstructing of the law in the New Testament

"For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ." - John 1:17 NIV I see many examples of the deconstruction of the law in the New Testament. It began in the Gospel accounts and continued into the writing of the Apostle Paul. It began with the forerunner, John...

Thanks for posting that. Good to see that I'm not alone in the observation. [

Does the inclusion of the Sabbath prove that the Ten Commandments were for Israel alone?

From my perspective, the moral law is covered under God's law of human conscience, which came before the law given by God to the Israelites alone through Moses. The inclusion of the Sabbath commandment shows that this SET of commandments was for the Israelites alone. Remove the Sabbath...
