Is the "free gift" of salvation really free? - Honestly?

Is the "free gift" of salvation really free? - Honestly?

I asked you what it means. (if memory serves) What does it mean that "Jesus is the truth"? [

Is the "free gift" of salvation really free? - Honestly?

That saw cuts both ways. Especially for those (like you) who are never learning or ever able to come to the knowledge of the Truth. [

My agnostic friend says: "I don't need it." - How would you respond?

I agree. @Carl Emerson claims that the Elect cannot even be tempted by deception. (of any kind) [

My agnostic friend says: "I don't need it." - How would you respond?

That is my point. @Carl Emerson disagrees. FYI @Carl Emerson and I have a long history. I have even spoken with him on the phone years ago. He used to rely on my people skills and resources to put teams together for ministry ideas. But more recently we have parted ways doctrinally. Which is...

My agnostic friend says: "I don't need it." - How would you respond?

Please provide specific biblical support. Thanks. [

Is the "free gift" of salvation really free? - Honestly?

Agree. Oftentimes, at least for me, the questions are of greater importance than the answers. Like trimming the fat from a fine piece of meat. (but use the fat to cook the meat) That's where the flavor is. [

My agnostic friend says: "I don't need it." - How would you respond?

In that regard, you have failed on this point. IMO "The very elect can not be deceived." [sic] Heavy on passion, light on reason. [

Is the "free gift" of salvation really free? - Honestly?

"...count the cost." comes to mind. A repayment in this lifetime of all that we give up. (hundredfold) Luke 14:28 NIV “Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Won’t you first sit down and estimate the cost to see if you have enough money to complete it? Mark 10:29-31 NIV “Truly I tell...

I need help getting closer to god

Welcome to the forum and thanks for your great questions. I used to keep a hand-written card in front of my computer keyboard as a reminder. It simply said: Turn it over to God. This served as a good reminder concerning things I was anxious about. When I turned them over, the anxiety...

My agnostic friend says: "I don't need it." - How would you respond?

Ironically you seem to have been deceived concerning the deception of the Elect. You have broad-brushed the entire issue. You'll need a stronger argument to support that. [

My agnostic friend says: "I don't need it." - How would you respond?

Actually, the scripture doesn't even give you that much elbow room. The scripture refers to a VERY specific SINGULAR deception that is VERY tempting. Matthew 24:24 NIV For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the...

My agnostic friend says: "I don't need it." - How would you respond?

Stand by your statement? With noted extreme conditions you mean? Plenty of other ways to be deceived. (in less extreme ways) You refuse to budge an inch on this. Your original statement, which I am challenging: Carl Emerson said: The very elect can not be...

Is the "free gift" of salvation really free? - Honestly?

Is the "free gift" of salvation really free? - Honestly?

That's interesting. How does a "lack of trust" (unbelief) masquerade as belief? [

Is the "free gift" of salvation really free? - Honestly?

Great question. This faith requires faith. It's not faith to believe in something that is air-tight. That requires no faith at all. It requires faith when there are loose ends that simply cannot be tied up. IMHO Leaving Room for Faith - why we don't know EVERYTHING...

My agnostic friend says: "I don't need it." - How would you respond?

I don't think we can even claim that "the Elect will not be tempted". There is an "if possible" clause. Matthew 24:24 NIV For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect. [
  18. St. SteVen

My agnostic friend says: "I don't need it." - How would you respond?

St. SteVen said: Remember, plenty of other ways to be deceived. Yes, that supports my point that even the Elect can be deceived in some regard. We all are. And actually what triggered this exchange was your claim on the other topic: that "The very elect can not be deceived."...

Ultimately, it's not a matter of who is right and who is wrong... (?)

What does that mean? Sounds like a hollow platitude. [
