Is your faith your own? - Is "the Faith" prescribed by a human institution?

I find it interesting that over a difference of opinion, the other gets accused of having NEVER read the Bible. What's up with that? [

Where did the Bible come from? - Shot out of a canon

Some are here to demonstrate exactly how unlovable we really are. - LOL [

Is your faith your own? - Is "the Faith" prescribed by a human institution?

St. SteVen said: Oh my. Like what? I view the atonement as a complete and finished work. I wouldn't connect that to the one-time event of the atonement. Jesus said, "It is finished." What was finished? BTW: I understand that there are differing views on the atonement. I...

Did Jesus say that adultery is grounds for divorce? - Nope.

The reason this is "necessary, but impermissible" is because of human nature. [ cc: @Lambano

Where did the Bible come from? - Shot out of a canon

St. SteVen said: Here's a question: What do the three biblical doctrines of the final judgement say about the character of God? 1) Damnationism (eternal conscious torment) 2) Annihilationism (complete destruction) 3) Christian Universalism (Ultimate Redemption/UR) Yes. -...

Where did the Bible come from? - Shot out of a canon

BINGO! That's a good observation and great question. Thanks. The good news is that one age can follow the previous one. The age of evaluation/correction/restoration and reward will only need to happen once. The future ages can go on for eternity. Ephesians 2:6-8 NIV And God raised us up...

Did Jesus say that adultery is grounds for divorce? - Nope.

Not what it says. (fact check) Matt 19:9 NIV I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another woman commits adultery.” [

Did Jesus say that adultery is grounds for divorce? - Nope.

Yes. As I understand it, women were considered to be property. Like slaves. Paul's teaching to "love your wives" was revolutionary. [

Did Jesus say that adultery is grounds for divorce? - Nope.

Sad, but true. Sad, but true. (sigh) [

Is your faith your own? - Is "the Faith" prescribed by a human institution?

This is a follow-up to my topic titled: Faith vs. "the Faith" - Which one was once delivered? Are you saved by faith, or by "the Faith"? Let's discuss both sides. Are we saved by certainty, or by faith? - the mystery of salvation...

Did Jesus say that adultery is grounds for divorce? - Nope.

I'm of the opinion that when God looks at a situation like this, He doesn't open the laws books. Rather, He opens His heart. There are victims. [

Did Jesus say that adultery is grounds for divorce? - Nope.

Interesting question. Thanks. Borders, boundaries and divisions. When we draw lines we create division. If you cross a line, there may be consequences. One one side of the line is "us", and on the other side is "them". Is this what God had in mind? Did we have His permission? [

Was the Transfiguration a vision, or an actual appearance of Moses and Elijah?

So you condemn the entire church except for your little tribe? How convenient. Did you surrender your own beliefs in the cause of doctrinal unity? Who decides? [

Jesus is the way, but how many ways are there to Jesus?

St. SteVen said: Jesus represents the New Testament, not the Old Testament. You disagree? Luke 22:20 NIV In the same way, after the supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you. [

  19. St. SteVen

Jesus is the way, but how many ways are there to Jesus?

Jesus represents the New Testament, not the Old Testament. John 1:17 NIV For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. [
  20. St. SteVen

Jesus is the way, but how many ways are there to Jesus?

No. I believe that Jesus came to deconstruct the law. What He did was not a sin. Galatians 3:23-25 NIV Before the coming of this faith,[a] we were held in custody under the law, locked up until the faith that was to come would be revealed. 24 So the law was our guardian until Christ came...
