The thief on the cross misconceptions

Read my other comments on this. The subject of baptism as relates to the thief should not even be considered since Jesus was still alive, meaning the old covenant was still on effect and not new. Si you couldn't possibly be baptized into Christ or his death as required under the new testament...

The thief on the cross misconceptions

John's baptism was not based upon Jewish rites. It was the precursor to the baptism into Christ pursuant to Acts 2:38. Identical in nature but not one that saves or places you in the body of Christ which is the church which the Lord himself does (Acts 2:47), nor did John's give the gifts of the...

The thief on the cross misconceptions

On the contrary. You patch scripture together to gain a complete understanding of what was being taught piecemeal. Believe what you like. Goodbye

The thief on the cross misconceptions

Yes, patching scripture together is exactly what you must do when reading the bible.

The thief on the cross misconceptions

You are not harmonizing scripture. Do you think all the elements of salvation are listed every time and in every related scripture? They are not. You must put all the elements together as extracted from all related scriptures to get the entire picture. No different than reading all 4 gospels to...

The thief on the cross misconceptions

Just one small but important point of clarification for you. It's by water baptism that you receive the gift of the spirit and are added to the Lord's body, the church per Acts 2:38-47. You don't receive the sprit any other way, and the only way instances that the spirit fell unilaterally were...

The thief on the cross misconceptions

What's sad is when people reject plain scripture as you obviously do.

The thief on the cross misconceptions

Meaningless words won't undo the scriptures. They say what they say which you've not addressed by your meaningless words. Goodbye

The thief on the cross misconceptions

That's not what the scriptures teach. Tell that to Peter (ref. 1Peter 3:20-1), and the Lord (ref. Mark 16:15-16). And how do you think you get "in Christ". It's by being baptized into him according to scripture.

What is the one true Church?

It's the one that the Lord adds you to upon baptism pursuant to Acts 2:47, and that's the one that teaches the following to be saved and added as aforementioned: 1. Belief and faith 2. Confession of belief as did the Ethiopian eunuch and in accordance with Romans 10:9 3. Repentance as was...

The thief on the cross misconceptions

Believe what you like but the plain and simple words don't lie. Clue: you are clueless

The thief on the cross misconceptions

Well, that's not what Peter said, nor Jesus as recoreded in Mark 16:15-16. So, should one today believe you, or the words of Peter and the Lord? Only the silly ones will believe you as opposed to them.

The thief on the cross misconceptions

Baptism saves, period because that's what tge scriptures say. How does one become part of the Lord's body and member of the church according to scripture? How are you buried with Christ to like be risen with him?

There remains no sacrifice for sins . . .

I have no idea what point you're trying to make.

The thief on the cross misconceptions

And that was the statement made by Jesus to the APOSTLES in Luke 24:49. And THEY did receive power from on high as recorded in Acts 2. The power was meant for THEM, and was manifested through THEM in the form of the gifts of the Spirit, those listed in 1 Cor 12:8-10, by the laying on of THEIR hands.

There remains no sacrifice for sins . . .

Don't read this out of context. It relates to sacrifices for sin under the old covenant as opposed to the one-time sacrifice for sin that Christ made. And once you have the knowledge of the truth of Christ there is no more sacrifice for sin under the old covenant nor is any necessary which is...

The thief on the cross misconceptions

Baptism is the method by which you're saved after belief. It also places you in the body of Christ which is his church. If you're not part of the body of Christ and your sins are not forgiven the answer is obvious.

The thief on the cross misconceptions

You make no sense and apparently choose to ignor the plain and concise language of the bible. Believe what you like. Goodbye

The thief on the cross misconceptions

Being born of water leads you to the spirit. It's by baptism, also as stated in Acts 2:38, that you receive the indwelling of the Holy Spirit by which you are truly born.
