Is the first resurrection physical or spiritual?

Yes. The discussion with @rwb, I thought, is What did the author MEAN? I think he meant that physical bodies had risen -- and I say such a thing never happened on Good Friday. If @rwb is correct that spiritual bodies was what rose from the tombs that day, then I would not deem the account...

Kamala says $750 for hurricane victims....illegals get 2 Billion for shelter and housing, plus more debacles by Biden Harris administration

It's not as though FEMA can reallocate SSP money to disaster relief. If you don't like how much noncitizens are getting under SSP compared with how much Helena Hurrcane victims are getting, your beef is with Congress, not the Biden Administration. The Department of Homeland Security...

    IS THE REFORMED FAITH BIBLICAL?

I'm sensing that this debate is driving a wedge between what God wills and what God wants. It seems to me that the first order of business is figuring out whether everything that God wills comes to pass. I've been praying the Lord's Prayer for 60 years, saying “Thy will be done on earth, as it...

Is the first resurrection physical or spiritual?

I agree with that much. But I meant that the reading of Matt. 27:51-53 you proffer is esoteric. The natural takeaway from reading the verses is as a reference to physical bodies. When one thinks of tombs being opened, the natural image is a physical one.

AND THEY SHALL ALL BE TAUGHT OF GOD

I actually think the "All" refers to an even wider class of people than just those going to heaven. The possibility exists that one can be "taught by God" (albeit not directly, as Paul was!) and not make it to heaven. When we read John 6:45, let's not forget the OT verse that Jesus was...

FEMA can't spend what it doesn't have -- and that's on Congress, not the Biden Administration: https://www.axios.com/2024/10/03/hurricane-helene-fema-funding-mayorkas

Is the first resurrection physical or spiritual?

OK, but I don't read Matt. 27:51-53 that way. I just don't think your esoteric view of sōmata is what Matthew's readership would understand -- or was intended to understand.

Is the first resurrection physical or spiritual?

I agree that "People" doesn't belong in v. 53. I just picked the NIV at random because it was the first to pop up when I googled the verses. Let's go with the NRSV, which is the study bible I usually use: "51 At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two, from top to bottom. The...

There is only one true church

You are quoting Paul's letter to Timothy as evidence that God not only IS the author, but SAYS he is the author!!! Can any more stark example of circular reasoning be imagined?????

Is the first resurrection physical or spiritual?

I cannot agree with your interpretation. Matt. 27: 51-53 says "51 At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shook, the rocks split 52 and the tombs broke open. The bodies of many holy people who had died were raised to life. 53 They came out of the...

Is the first resurrection physical or spiritual?

It would take quite a while to explain why I say -- and how I know the difference. But since you believe I am Satan's puppet, why would you care to hear it?

Is the first resurrection physical or spiritual?

I can respond to them. They are stretches! I will concede that with sufficient presumptions and mental machinations indulging the improbable, virtually all of these facial inconsistencies can be harmonized. My question is, why indulge them? The only reason I can see to do so is in order to...

Is the first resurrection physical or spiritual?

Was Matthew mistaken in tracing Joseph’s lineage from David through Solomon (Matt. 1:6)? Luke 3:31 says he was! Was Matthew mistaken in saying that the centurion who wanted Jesus to heal his servant approached Jesus in person (Matthew 8:5-13)? Luke 7:2-10 says he sent an intermediary. Was...

Is the first resurrection physical or spiritual?

I am a Christian. One can be a Christian and still recognize that the gospels were written by men, not by God. Inspired doesn't mean inerrant. In Matt. 23:35 Matthew confuses two Zechariahs, the prophet Zechariah who was the son of Berechiah (Zech. 1:1) and another who was the son of...

Is the first resurrection physical or spiritual?

No, I mean that dead saints coming to life when Christ breathed His last is fiction. Never happened. Not true. SPURIOUS. Yet another Matthean mistake. Like Matt. 27:9. Like Matt. 23:35.

Is the first resurrection physical or spiritual?

I think your reference should have started two verses earlier. 1 Cor. 5:20 says that Christ was the first to be raised. If so, Matthew's account is spurious.

There is only one true church

Comparatively few books of the Bible were written by eyewitnesses -- but YOU say it doesn't matter because all of it was written by the Holy Spirit, who was an eyewitness to everything! So how can you use this analogy? There should be ONE version if there is One author!

    IS THE REFORMED FAITH BIBLICAL?

My answer is "Yes." Dozens of Biblical exhortations to do so would be rather pointless otherwise. As pointless as asking a puppet to move its limbs when the Puppeteer is holding the strings.

There is only one true church

Forest for the trees, my friend. I have said many times that all Scripture, NT and OT, is God-breathed. That's not under discussion here. What's under discussion is, "what writings did Paul intend when he wrote 2 Tim. 3:16?" And the answer is, the OT only. He didn't say to Timothy, "All...
