Why did our Redeemer need to be both God and Man?

That's the party line, of course. But good luck squaring that "justice" -- punishing the sinless in place of the guilty -- with any conception of justice known to man.

There is only one true church

Of course it's true! Not because of the definition of γραφὴ which is obviously broad enough to cover the NT. But because THAT WAS NOT PAUL'S MEANING when he wrote to Timothy. It couldn't have been! Most of the writings which ended up in that wonderful fourth century compilation you have on...

There is only one true church

We've been through this already, my friend. In 2 Tim. 3:16 the word graphē is used to describe the OT only. Let's not go back to this again please, we've beaten it to death. Yes, all Scripture both OT and NT are God-breathed. No, 2 Tim 3:16 doesn't support calling the NT God-breathed. As to...

It's Too Good to Be True Syndrome

But IN THE LONG RUN that obedience is rewarded. "Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you." Matt. 5:11-12.

There is only one true church

Paul wrote to Timothy. Not the Holy Spirit. Paul. Look at the very first word in the Letter. If the Holy Spirit wanted to communicate with Timothy directly, He could have dispensed with the need for a letter written in Paul's hand.

    Filling in Scriptural Blanks

The LXX renders Gen. 1:1 as a full sentence, even without punctuation (which didn't exist at the time). Hard to read it any other way. Subject, verb, object. Distinct from what follows. I'm calling that a Sentence.

Why did our Redeemer need to be both God and Man?

What was Limbo like? I see the parable (Luke 16:19-31) about poor Lazarus being escorted by angels to hang out in Abraham's bosom, and the rich man hoping to join them or at least to have his five brothers do so. Must have been a cheery way station, no?

Why did our Redeemer need to be both God and Man?

With all those unbaptized babies floating by, just counting their toes?

Why did our Redeemer need to be both God and Man?

This raises an interesting question: Where, if not in heaven, were Abraham, Isaac and Jacob before Jesus "re-opened" heaven? I recall the account of Jesus saying they weren't dead. Matt. 22:32, Mark 12:26.

Biden-Harris DOJ Sues Alabama Over Effort To Remove Non-Citizens From Voter Rolls

Thanks for posting this link. Its first two sentences are revealing: "After being sworn into office on January 16, 2023, Alabama Secretary of State Wes Allen immediately initiated strategic efforts to ensure that Alabama has the cleanest and most accurate voter file in the country. As part of...

Biden-Harris DOJ Sues Alabama Over Effort To Remove Non-Citizens From Voter Rolls

To clarify: this 90 day deadline does not preclude removal of names at the request of the registrant, removal due to death of the registrant, removal due to criminal conviction or mental incapacity of the registrant as provided by State law. Nor does the deadline preclude correction of a...

    Filling in Scriptural Blanks

For a somewhat different view, see https://assets.answersingenesis.org/doc/articles/aid/v2/did-god-create-or-make.pdf It concludes: "The context of Genesis, indeed the whole Bible, is overwhelmingly in favor of interpreting both bara and asah in Genesis 1 as virtually instantaneous acts...

Biden-Harris DOJ Sues Alabama Over Effort To Remove Non-Citizens From Voter Rolls

I can. It's a question of timing. Justice Department Sues Alabama for Violating Federal Law’s Prohibition on Systematic Efforts to Remove Voters Within 90 Days of an Election

    Filling in Scriptural Blanks

I’m not a Hebrew scholar, but I'm not seeing what you're seeing. It seems to me that “bara” can mean either to create out of nothing or to create out of something. Just checking Strong’s here, I don’t see any instances of “bara” in Genesis where the latter meaning is clear and the former...

    Filling in Scriptural Blanks

I'm not following your argument, John. Are you saying that the verb "bara" implies creation out of something already in existence?

Is the first resurrection physical or spiritual?

Deciding whether the first resurrection is physical or spiritual may turn on the sense in which believers are already resurrected, or waiting to be. Paul usually says that resurrection for believers lies in the future (Romans 6:1-6, Phil. 3:11, 1 Cor. 15:22, 15:51). But Col. 1:13, 2:12-13 and...

    Filling in Scriptural Blanks

It does include the OT genealogies. It does not include the genealogies in Matthew and Luke (which, by the way, don't agree with each other). When Paul referred to "Scripture" in his letter to Timothy, he was referring to the OT. Not to gospels that hadn't yet been written.

    Filling in Scriptural Blanks

From Chapter V of the Book of Jasher, right? 33 And Noah rose up, and he made the ark, in the place where God had commanded him, and Noah did as God had ordered him. 34 In his five hundred and ninety-fifth year Noah commenced to make the ark, and he made the ark in five years, as the Lord had...
