CALVINISM: The height of Spiritual depravity

Why did you even bother with that inane comment?

CALVINISM: The height of Spiritual depravity

Joh 6:45 It is written in the Prophets, 'And they will all be taught by God.' Everyone who has heard and learned from the Father comes to me-- The point is that "Everyone who has heard and learned from the Father comes to me-" That means that it is they who hear and learn from the Father...

Why did Jesus have to suffer and die?

Where is any spirit? In your mind? In your heart? In your big toe?

CALVINISM: The height of Spiritual depravity

The word "that" in "and that not of yourselves" does not refer back to either faith or grace. It can't since in the Greek it is neuter gender and both grace and fiaith in the Greek are feminine gender. The only acceptable interpretation is that it refers to the entire phrase, "by grace you...

CALVINISM: The height of Spiritual depravity

But the really critical thing here is that He knows what you are going to do before you do it. Besides Acts 15:18 is another of those verses that the KJV does poorly in interpreting. (ASV) Saith the Lord, who maketh these things known from of old. (ESV) known from of old.' (ISV) that have...

CALVINISM: The height of Spiritual depravity

So what did God foreknow? That they were called by Him? You think His foreknowledge was about what He would do? That is silly. What God foreknew was that they would love Him.

CALVINISM: The height of Spiritual depravity

Acts 13:48 is a verse that is dearly loved by the Calvinist/Reformed Theology groups. And that is understandable because it is misinterpreted by nearly every English translation available. This text, Acts 13:48, summarizes the response of the Gentiles to the powerful preaching of the Apostle...

CALVINISM: The height of Spiritual depravity

In giving the typical Calvinist interpretation of those three verses, you get it wrong. Your premise boils down to claiming God foreknew those He predestined. That in itself is a rather preposterous claim. It certainly doesn't give much positive acclaim to God's power of foreknowledge. That is...

Why did Jesus have to suffer and die?

Yes, but again that is not something done to me, but rather for me. He is my helper, my intercessor. What was done to me was being saved. In being saved, I was forgiven of my sin and given the "Paraclete" as a gift. Again, perhaps the being to picky for you.

    Does God : Know everything?

The real culprit is the nonsense that came out of Augustine that Calvin bought into, namely, Total Depravity. Once accepting that false accusation against God, then the rest of the Calvin's fallacious soteriology is required for anyone to be saved.

If you think that Noah's flood was global, then bet on it

You would do yourself a favor to study to answer the question how the Himalayas became the mountains they are today, and similarly for the Sierras and the Swiss Alps.

Why did Jesus have to suffer and die?

Not to be too picky, but His death doesn't do anything to me. His death does so very, very much for me. His death is the perfect sacrifice for the sins of the world. It satisfied God's demand for the punishment of sin which for mankind is eternal condemnation, a complete and permanent...

Why did Jesus have to suffer and die?

There are two distinct and somewhat different sides to God’s moral nature. Romans 11:22 sums up these two sides when it says, “Behold then the kindness and severity of God.” Interpreting these in the light of other Scripture, we can say that the two sides of His nature are love and holiness. We...

Why did Jesus have to suffer and die?

Oh groad! His death doesn't save. He does. He was the perfect sacrifice. It is by that sacrifice that he becomes the perfect propitiation. By His death, He paid the ransom for us. That ransom was paid to God the Father. In having been paid that ransom God forgives sin and gives the gift...

Why did Jesus have to suffer and die?

Yes, Jesus is God. But His death does not save. He does. His death was the sacrifice through which God saves.

Why did Jesus have to suffer and die?

Enough with dance floors, dance moves, tapping toes, different beats, tapestries, pirouetting, etc. Cute but somewhat confounding and disconcerting.

CALVINISM: The height of Spiritual depravity

The key issue here is how God choses those He saves. Given that Calvinism is tied to the false doctrine of Total Depravity, then Calvinism must reject the biblical definition of elect and redefine it in some other manner. And Robert's statement is not a straw man. It is completely accurate.

Why did Jesus have to suffer and die?

Jesus' death doesn't save anyone. God does. God's Holiness demands punishment for sins. God's Graciousness allows God, who is Holy, to impute the sins of mankind to Jesus. He is the perfect sacrifice. Jesus is the perfect sacrifice for the sins of the whole world; "He is the propitiation for...
