    The Gospel of Reconciliation

He and I have been battling that for more than a few years now. He is well aware of what I think about his phony soteriology.

    The Gospel of Reconciliation

That's a hoot. I am not stuck on a word. I just think that it is an inappropriate word in modern day English. It carries a connotation that is just plain wrong.

    Why not?

    The Gospel of Reconciliation

Ghost is not even a real thing.

    The Gospel of Reconciliation

Only in the Old English version of the KJV. Come on. Get with the program. At least if you are insistent upon the KJV, go to the NKJV where the Old English speech is corrected to modern day English. Why wilt thou now not upgradeth to current English?

    The Gospel of Reconciliation

Yes, really ! ! ! There is even the TV program "Ghosts" which is a spoof on the concept of ghosts. The Holy Spirit is not a ghost. He is a divine being. God is Spirit. That is the same word in Greek. Would you ever say "God is a ghost"? Even the KJV didn't say that.

    The Gospel of Reconciliation

There is a lot there to agree with, but also a lot there to disagree with. And that because so much of what you said or implied there is all twisted up and screwed up by your adherence to the false doctrines of Unconditional Election and Limited Atonement.

    The Gospel of Reconciliation

All that is nice, even though I disagree with some of it, but you failed to identify who the "we" are in Romans 5:10. You did lay out who they once were, namely, sinners. However, those he is writing to are no longer sinners. In fact, Paul begins chapter 5 with, "Therefore, since we have been...

    The Gospel of Reconciliation

Yes, it makes it a work. But it is not a work of the law, and that is the key. Rom 3:19 Now we know that whatever the Law says, it speaks to those who are under the Law, so that every mouth may be closed and all the world may become accountable to God; Rom 3:20 because by the works of the...

    The Gospel of Reconciliation

LOL I suspect I learned to read before you were even a glint in your father's eye. I suspect I was reading the Bible long before you were even reading about Spot, Dick and Jane.

    The Gospel of Reconciliation

You said, Did you respond or reject. Either way, it is something you did.

    The Gospel of Reconciliation

Jesus said, to believe in Jesus is work. It clealy it is not in the set of works that Paul spoke against, but it is work. John 6:27 "Do not work for the food which perishes, but (work) for the food which endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give to you, for on Him the Father...

    The Gospel of Reconciliation

You said you responded. That is something you did. And you say doing something you did is works. So were you saved by works.

    Yes, 1 John 4:7-21

So then it is something that you do, even if that is as simple and straightforward as accepting the offer.

    The Gospel of Reconciliation

Joh 6:45 It is written in the Prophets, 'And they will all be taught by God.' Everyone who has heard and learned from the Father comes to me-- But the key there is whom God did foreknow. The verse just previous to that one tells us that. Rom 8:28 And we know that for those who love God all...

    The Gospel of Reconciliation

So then is your responding something that you did or did God do that for you too? If it is something you did, is that work you did?
  18. J

    The Gospel of Reconciliation

Well aren't you the lucky one? That must really make you proud that God did that for you. If God did that for you, one has to wonder why He hasn't done that for everyone. Perhaps you could explain that to me. Why did He do all that work for you and not for the untold numbers of others?

    The Gospel of Reconciliation

We are not saved by works of the law. But too many read that as anything we do is a work of the law. That is simply not true. There are a lot works that are not works of the law. Believing is but one of them. Believing is something that we do. It is a work. Jesus said it is a work. But...

    The Gospel of Reconciliation

You think God is doing the believing for you? That's really weird. They weren't asking what God would do? They were asking what they should do. And Jesus told them what they should do. If you do not understand that you are in real trouble.
