The Flawed Reasoning Of Total Depravity

Is Jesus Christ's atoning sacrifice insufficient to save all who come to the cross?

The Flawed Reasoning Of Total Depravity

Those who believe are the elect. 2 Timothy 2:10 10 Therefore I endure all things for the elect's sake, that they also may obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory. Why would Paul be forced to "endure" anything that the elect "may" obtain salvation? This verse reveals...

The Flawed Reasoning Of Total Depravity

It is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who desires ALL people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.

Why would God ask us to pray for those outside the faith if their fate is sealed and nothing can change it? 1 Timothy 2:1-6 First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for ALL people, for kings and ALL who are in high positions, that we may...

Do those that reject the gospel have eternal life? John 3:16 John 5:2 John 10:7-9 John 14:6 Acts of the Apostles 4:12

Paul was referencing the OT, which I believe was speaking more pointedly about the state of Israel at that time. He was also highlighting that they weren't any more righteous than the gentiles. Also, compared to God, certainly all of mankind appears unrighteous, depraved and evil. This...

Believing is not a work. That's literally my position. Your position as a Calvinist is that we can't choose to accept the gospel on our own as doing so would make salvation be based on our works. I have already provided scripture debunking that claim in Romans 4, but you've chosen not to engage...

The Flawed Reasoning Of Total Depravity

Jesus instructed us that the work of God, the only "work" we can do that would ever be acceptable in God's sight, is to believe on the One whom God had sent into the world, Jesus Himself. Jesus implores us to do something, to believe in Him of our own volition. Jesus implores us to respond to...

The Flawed Reasoning Of Total Depravity

I don't see how that's related to the subject. The claim being made by your side is that having faith is a work. Both sides accept that nobody is saved based on their works, as only Christ is sufficient. Therefore, our faith cannot be a work in the traditional sense of "labour" I'm requesting...

The Flawed Reasoning Of Total Depravity

Why won't you deal with the scripture I provided? Does it say Abraham was justified by his works and earned salvation like a laborer earns his wages, or does it say that he was deemed righteous through his faith? Will you acknowledge that these passages make a distinction between faith and...

Was Abraham justified by Faith or Works according to Romans 4? Are we not commanded to obey the gospel?

The Flawed Reasoning Of Total Depravity

Once again, the bible does not define Faith to be a work in such a sense. Please read Romans 4:3-5

Anecdotal. Not all make that same choice.

I like the scripture Isaiah 43:26 particularly. But I believe you are correct. Choosing to believe is not "works" to God, no matter how much Calvinists want to make it out to be. Romans 4:3-5 makes a clear distinction that having Faith is not considered a work.

    On being a Saint

While I agree with the gist of your OP, I find this particular sentiment rather unwise to peddle. We do not see the arm of God working in its fullness in our sight. We do not know nor can we conceive of the mysteries of God's works. His works and his plans are beyond searching out. I believe He...

    Difference between Soul and Spirit

To start off, I'm more inclined to think of the "Soul" being more interchangeable with the concepts of "Mind" and "Heart" than Spirit is. I will attempt to explain why using scripture below, but first I'd like to get a few premises up. I believe the Spirit aspect of our being is not entirely...

Why Was Cain’s Sacrifice Rejected by God?

For people saying that Cain lacked real faith in God, I'm not entirely sure how you've arrived at that conclusion. In Genesis 4:6-7 God speaks directly to Cain and implores him to do right.
