    SELF-DENIAL-mjs

    A study about the plan of God and the Gospel is what would be profitable, here! God is not into making schemes to save men, as though some law hung over him... People speak as though the law had been a technique by which God could justify men, and now he's chosen another technique, unmerited...

    Imputed righteousness;

    This speaks of her past. Just as this does. 1 John 1:10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us. This on the other hand, speaks of the new creation. 4 Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness. 5 And you know that He was...

    How was SAUL saved in Acts 9:6 ??

    Jesus preached to him the same gospel, of reconciliation to God by Christ, and cleansing by his blood, and power to obey by the grace made available through faith! The intent here is just too obvious! ;) God has called all unto himself. Where they come from to get there is another story!

    Repenting

    Hmmm... I like that! Repentance is the turning away, and faith the turning to! Repentance is where we are honest, and true, and thus forgiveness is available. Faith is where we can receive grace, power ( ;) ), thus being enabled to do what pleases God.

    Questions from Insight - expect no reciprocation, at all....

    Yet it says all things were created by him and in him! :) 15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers...

    Was Paul stating a church doctrine when he said that he did not permit a woman to teach in the churc

    Yes, that is true indeed! :) The fighting and hacking away will also refine our character, if we let it, and are willing to learn!

    Imputed righteousness;

    2 Corinthians 9:8 And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work. Mercy does not give one the ability to do good works! But power from God, divine influence, does. :) Hebrews 4:16 Let us...

    A quote from Wesley

    Romans 2:14 for when Gentiles, who do not have the law, by nature do the things in the law, these, although not having the law, are a law to themselves, Heathens can do the things of the law!!!!???? :o Yes! :) Romans 13:10 Love does no harm to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of...

    A quote from Wesley

    Amen, Sister! :) Those outside, God judges! Here's how it fits. :) If God influences a man without telling him his name and who is influencing him, and that man responds positively, that man has responded positively to the light given him. Think about this, the Queen of the South, with whom...

    christian heavy metal?? thoughts & opinions

    I think that's a good idea. :) To Rach: again, I don't declare metal wrong, didn't do that! I don't judge people for listening to it, and I don't think it's evil. But I don't suggest it. It is not just metal, one might say the same with rap... It comes down to just being a lot of noise, and...

    Imputed righteousness;

    You are talking about mercy, and love, which overlooks faults. Because of his love, God has given us grace, but they are not one and the same. Using these definitions with the end of cancelling out the need of running the race and walking in the power of God is faulty reasoning. It is...

    Are we Christians or Jews?

    Amen! :) Obedience is better than sacrifice, and the love of God is to obey his commands. The fulfilling of the law is love, and in the Spirit there is freedom to love. All this comes together when we see we are to walk in this love. This is good and pleasing in the sight of God!

    Was Paul stating a church doctrine when he said that he did not permit a woman to teach in the churc

    I like what you said, Vengle. If men do not use this authority in love, if they are not simply in authority because it is the order of God, and seeking by it also to edify all, and help all grow in the Lord, then the men are using the law to their own gain, to their own glory... Not a good...

    The old nature and the new

    I do agree that even this is from God. Only I also think we should not judge that someone, because they do not walk in the new nature, are certainly evil. Rather, they are fallen, like all humans. But they may, though they be weak in righteousness, still chose it, and love their neighbor...

    Repenting

    God knows our hearts, and even it's hidden sins. God isn't looking for someone who tries to list all their sins, say sorry for all of them, and try real hard to stop doing them. Though the person might genuinely think that's the way to go, it doesn't work! I agree with you that the contrite...

    A quote from Wesley

    Hi all! This is a quote from John Wesley, an 18th century preacher, who is credited as a key founder of Methodism, from which it is said flowed the holiness, pentecostal, and charismatic movements. "But it may be asked, if there be no true love of our neighbour but that which springs from the...

    Author and perfecter

    22 But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, to an innumerable company of angels, 23 to the general assembly and church of the firstborn who are registered in heaven, to God the Judge of all, to the spirits of just men made perfect, 24 to Jesus...

    14 Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord: 15 looking carefully lest anyone fall short of the grace of God; Paul, though he had seen the light, and preached to many, said 'I have not yet attained' and 'I press on'. He also said he 'strove to apprehend...

    Yes, and it is by this training that we attain, and truly become like him. This is the 'running of the race'. So the attaining is indeed not the beginning but indeed important... Lest we fall short of the grace of God!
