    Lets Define "Works"

James is speaking of the fruit of true faith, not just 'profession' ('you say you have faith') but possession. Look at Abraham after God declared him righteous, he went down to Egypt and told a half lie to save his skin. Faith grows, so does our good works. But we are not justified by those works.

    Lets Define "Works"

Correct, as long as we keep in mind that our voluntary obedience doesn't substitute for Christ's perfect obedience.

    Lets Define "Works"

No more 'required' than an apple tree is required to produce apples. Our good works are the result of God first working in us.

    Lets Define "Works"

We must learn to separate our half baked efforts at being righteous before God and Christ’s pure and unsullied perfection in pleasing His Father right up to His death. We do those things that you mentioned because we have been saved out of thankfulness, not in order to gain God’s approval.

    Lets Define "Works"

Necessary for what? For salvation? How many works must you do to be saved? Galatians 3:2 KJV [2] This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? Galatians 3:10 KJV [10] For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse...

James versus Paul? Works of the law vs. works of faith

Actually, faith believes God and is justified. "Nothing in my hands I bring, simply to the (message of the) cross I cling. -Toplady Romans 4:1-3 (NASB) What then shall we say that Abraham, our forefather according to the flesh, has found? For if Abraham was justified by works, he has something...

James versus Paul? Works of the law vs. works of faith

I have a bit of difficulty with what I placed in bold letters above. (although I agree with the 2nd part) My favorite question to this point..."If saving faith has action, how much action must we do to be justified?"

Who is Jesus' Father? HS or the Father?

2 Peter 1:17 (NASB) For when He received honor and glory from God the Father, such an utterance as this was made to Him by the Majestic Glory, "This is My beloved Son with whom I am well-pleased"-- Matthew 3:17 (NASB) and behold, a voice out of the heavens said, "This is My beloved Son, in...

    Lets Define "Works"

Works is that which man does in order to attain God's favor. Grace is what God does to bring and keep man in His favor.

    What do Calvinists believe?

The TULIP stuff was a reaction against the Arminian Jacob Arminius who wrote a refutation against Calvinism. The earmark of the original Calvinism as laid out in Calvin's Institutes was Covenant Theology.

James versus Paul? Works of the law vs. works of faith

Fine, which particular point do you want me to address?

James versus Paul? Works of the law vs. works of faith

No, you're just a man. It is whatever God says is evidence. How many times does God have to say something until it is to be believed?

Mask Control: Prove COVID-19 exists...I dare you!

Fine, I am using my talents by discerning what is hype and trusting Him instead. Psalm 11:1 KJV [1] In the Lord put I my trust: how say ye to my soul, Flee as a bird to your mountain? I don't fear any of this cr!!. Our mission as the Church is to get the Gospel out and teach.

Mask Control: Prove COVID-19 exists...I dare you!

I see you have a talent for quoting people out of context and then expect a response. I said, "How does one become informed? With a hundred different voices saying opposite things"

Mask Control: Prove COVID-19 exists...I dare you!

How does one become informed? With a hundred different voices saying opposite things. God's Word is sure, not the political landscape. I choose to trust Him. Call it what you want.

I have no recourse but to trust God through all this Covid insanity.

James versus Paul? Works of the law vs. works of faith

True, but reading Gal 1&2, they (including James) were in agreement with Paul's message of the Gospel to the Gentiles.

James versus Paul? Works of the law vs. works of faith

Galatians 2:9 KJV [9] And when James, Cephas, and John, who seemed to be pillars, perceived the grace that was given unto me, they gave to me and Barnabas the right hands of fellowship; that we should go unto the heathen, and they unto the circumcision.

James versus Paul? Works of the law vs. works of faith

Or deep down we know our 'good' works aren't good enough, and so like AVIS car rental, 'we try harder'. LOL

James versus Paul? Works of the law vs. works of faith

How many times does God have to repeat Himself (in His written word) for it to be true?
