    Data On The Trinity

The Kingdom Hall is not the standard for truth. The scriptures are and I referenced those scriptures in John 20:31 where it says John wrote to show that Jesus is the Messiah and the son of God. Nothing there, or anywhere else in the scriptures, that says, "God the Son." There are more and more...

    Data On The Trinity

It is not totally clear that the older Greek texts had this phrase in Matthew 28. It may have been a forgery. But apart from that, there are about a half dozen accounts in the NT that talks about people getting baptized by the Apostles. None of them follow the formula in Matthew. They always...

    Data On The Trinity

I had never seen the connection between the Gnostic idea of God and Jesus being at cross-purposes and John's, "and the logos was with God." Huge implications! Thanks. Substituting the word "Jesus" for "logos" completely obscures the real beauty of John's gospel and his stated purpose in writing...

    Data On The Trinity

Very true that the trinity is not in the Bible. Shouldn't that give trinitarians pause, especially when the Bible declares it contains everything that pertains to life and godliness? I wonder what exactly Paul meant when he said, "For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not...

The Trinity: Biblical Doctrine, or a Theological Construction?

Welcome to Lower Lifeville! :) I know how you feel. Seriously, I think that anybody that confesses Jesus as their Lord and believes God raised him from the dead (Rom 10:9-10) is a son of God and is as far from being a lower life form as the black is white.

The Trinity: Biblical Doctrine, or a Theological Construction?

I understand what you are saying, having been of the same mind myself for many years. I still agree with you on the natural man can't receive the things of God. That much is clear in 1 Cor 2:14. However I don't see that section of scripture as saying anything other than with God's spirit...

The Trinity: Biblical Doctrine, or a Theological Construction?

No theology there. Solo Scripture, ala M. Luther

The Trinity: Biblical Doctrine, or a Theological Construction?

Well said. If there is any "doctrine" that fits Heb 13:9 it would be, "there is a God the Father, there is a God the Son, and there is a God the Holy Spirit. But these are not 3 Gods but 1 God." What???? A strange doctrine indeed!

The Trinity: Biblical Doctrine, or a Theological Construction?

"It (the doctrine of the trinity) makes three affirmations: that there is but one God, that the Father and the Son and the Spirit is each God, and that the Father, the Son, and the Spirit is each a distinct person...Though it is not a Biblical doctrine in the sense that any formulation of it can...

Defending the Godhead (Trinity) & the Divine Nature of Christ

What exactly do you mean by, "the divine nature of Christ?" I know 2 Peter 1:4 says all Christians partake of the divine nature. Do you take that to be the same as Christ's divine nature or something different? If different, how is it different? It was the divine nature that gave Jesus the...

    A Form of godliness

Although I've never learned to speed read, perhaps I did miss what you said the first time around so I read it slowly and three times. I'm not sure what you are saying.

    A Form of godliness

Mark 9 fulfilling John 1:51 is a huge assumption. I'm afraid you are making the same mistake as Adam and Eve. God said they would die. The devil said they would not die. If you think Elias and Moses actually appeared on the mountain, then you are siding with the devil, saying that they did not...

    A Form of godliness

What is God's image? God is spirit. John 4:24, God [is] a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship [him] in spirit and in truth. In Genesis God: "created" man in His image: spirit (Gen 1:27) "formed" man from the ground: body (Gen 2:7) "breathed" into man the breath of life: soul...

    A Form of godliness

As opposed to the 0 explicit verses that say Jesus is God. But forget that. It doesn't matter. The orthodox doctrine says Jesus is God. Are you actually suggesting that the Bible takes precedence over orthodoxy? What a novel concept! I think you just might have something there brother. I think...

    A Form of godliness

Sorry, but I just don't see "God the Son" in those verses. Since "God the Son" is a key element of the trinity (supposedly our very salvation depends on it), wouldn't you think those words would be found somewhere in the Bible? I think Psalms 2 makes a very clear distinction between God, the...

    A Form of godliness

Good point. I think Romans 11, especially verse 25 says a lot about that. Rom 11:25, For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in...

    A Form of godliness

Could you quote exactly what I said that led you to believe I think Proverbs 8 are not the words of God, but rather human philosophy? No. I don't think Psalms was made up by a shepherd. I'm a firm believer that God is the author of all scripture, including Psalms. 2 Tim 3:16, All scripture...

    A Form of godliness

Well, I think you might have something if Heb 1:3 said, "Who being God..." But it doesn't. In fact, we are left wondering exactly whose right hand God sat on! I might ask why you did not include Num 23:19, and Luk 17:30?

    A Form of godliness

John 1:1, In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. Try reading John 1 with the idea that the Word is God. John 1 is not all about Jesus. It talks about God, John the Baptist, and Jesus. But to gain even more understanding, find out what the word "logos"...

    A Form of godliness

You're being led too much by Greek philosophy. They were the first to personify wisdom. It sure wasn't the Jews, the ones to whom God actually wrote. No, I'm not at all aware that God kept his plan of salvation secret until Jesus' baptism. I always thought Jesus was first promised way back in...
