    Oddly OSAS

Yes, this thread is about reconciling all those Scriptures together with all the other Scriptures that seem to say we cannot be lost. I literally just admitted that, yes, from one perspective, they were "truly" saved (not a false salvation), but, from another, they never were.

    Oddly OSAS

From one point of view, yes, they were saved; from another perspective, no, they were never saved. Not at all. I don't believe in that.

    Oddly OSAS

Hmm Jesus says "disciple the nations teaching them to observe all I have commanded you", so it applies to us. Lol Matthew is in the NT. Paul agrees with Jesus, and they both teach God forgets righteousness. You have no answers, just empty assertions. No thanks.

    Oddly OSAS

Matthew 18 (parable of the unforgiving steward) debunks that nonsensical misunderstanding. It proves God forgets that you had Him as your righteousness (Jer 23:6) if you fall away.
  6. GracePeace

    Oddly OSAS

    God forgets righteousness.
  7. GracePeace

    Oddly OSAS

The context does indicate that--sin can harden the heart, and cause people to "fall away" due to the hardening to unbelief. People in the world don't "fall away" from the living God. God's people fall away from Him. And yes that's exactly what the statement means, in context, as explained, but...

    Oddly OSAS

Nope, "we have become partakers of Christ if we endure until the end" is explained by God's ability to forget righteousness--if you don't persevere, you retroactively never partook, because your righteousness of faith is "forgotten". Without availing yourself of all the tools in the Biblical...

    Justified by Works

Actually, on this side note, I think it's why Paul could describe his lost state under Law as he did BOTH in Romans 7 ("before God" the Law shows him he needs a Deliverer from his slavery to sin) AND in Philippians 3 (where he is blameless according to the Law--before men, he could boast of a...

The conversation (started in the OP) is actually about how the word "works" is apparently being misunderstood.

Yeah, God loves us, and we love Him.
  12. GracePeace

    Justified by Works

I speak of "justification today and later"--that it is by being loved by God and loving God and doing what is pleasing to God--that when we do not believe in His love and do what is pleasing we are condemned (Ro 14:23), but, of course, we can be forgiven, and pick back up. Nope, the verse says...

    Justified by Works

Spurring doesn't create works, obeying does--Php 2:12,13 "obey... for it is God at work in you...". ?? Not sure how it's relevant to how you concluded justification is not by works. You haven't answered the verses I raised. I look forward to you doing so.

    Justified by Works

Romans 2:6-16 says you are justified and given life by works at the Judgment. Romans 8:12,13 say if you walk after the flesh you will die, but if by the Spirit you will live. Romans 14:23 says the one who does what he does not believe in is "condemned" (not justified). Not sure how you arrived...

Consider the reasoning he is using : "Jesus teaches many parables, and we are to take them seriously, but, here, the parable Jesus tells Peter--because he asked for instruction about forgiveness (instructions Christ wanted His apostles to bring to the nations, so they would observe all He...

I'm telling you, brother, nothing (except praying) is worth missing sleep. It ages you--your hair line will recede more rapidly, the lines on your face will proceed, and, internally, the corresponding aging will occur.

    Justified by Works

If I were you, I'd go to sleep. Sleep is EXTREMELY important. Missing sleep, for one, diminishes immunity--supposedly, getting only 4 hours of sleep (or missing 4 hours?) diminishes immunity by 75% for a while. I am fine if we pick this up later.

Will you please clarify how any of this proves I'm abusing Romans 14:23?

    Justified by Works

Both the brother who eats without faith and the brother who caused him to eat without faith have sinned--and, as I said, they're both condemned, but the condemnation on the one is for a different reason than the condemnation on the other. Yep. However, how is this supposed to be relevant to...

    Justified by Works

Think about your argument : "the believer can live in sin (by walking contrary to his beliefs, contrary to the law of his mind--already, this state of affairs had been the description of being enslaved, killed, by sin (Ro 7:8-24)), and his sinning will not affect his justification, nor result in...
