Is the Holy Spirit to be Worshipped?

Thank you for your input, Hammerstone. I definitely see where you are coming from.

    Protestant Reformation

Really? I guess I have missed out on the mandatory membership, threats of prison or death for questioning the church leadership, calls for Crusades where they say to kill an infidel is a ticket to heaven, hunting, torturing and killing "witches" as in during the Inquisition, Indulgences...

Is the Holy Spirit to be Worshipped?

I have also heard it said, "Obedience is worship without words."

Is the Holy Spirit to be Worshipped?

Thank you so much for your reply, Kimberly. You have given me much to chew on. And I agree with you about providing input via scripture as a main supporting point rather than opinion.

Is the Holy Spirit to be Worshipped?

-- Our praise and worship is for Jesus, as well. Not just to the Father. Is it then appropriate to bless the Holy Spirit?

Is the Holy Spirit to be Worshipped?

In a recent discussion about the Holy Spirit, the following points about Him were brought out: 1. He is a person. 2. He is, like Jesus, a Comforter or Helper (John 14:16) 3. He is the Spirit of Truth (John 14:17) 4. He is a teacher. 5. He brings the teachings of Jesus to our remembrance (John...

    -- Exactly.

Why are there so much animosity between Catholics and Protestants?

-- Ah yes. Generalities and blanket non-specific accusations. This is what Aspen has been reduced to. Using his standard, a non-Catholic would be justified in saying "All I learned as a Catholic is that being a priest is a green light for molesting young boys and being protected by the...

Why are there so much animosity between Catholics and Protestants?

Poor Aspen. Another example of you stating you are done, but when someone uses the correct prod, you are right back with a Pavlovian response. "So where are these scriptures that address Mary's sex life?" - Aspen -- That is actually the question that CATHOLICS should be answering since...

    Protestant Reformation

Must one list the litany of issues of the world that was dominated by the Catholic church?

Is it ok for a Christian to kill people?

-- But that is not what the scripture says. It says all that is required is that the person "believe." -- So, according to you, a lack of faith should not affect God's promises... But according to James "a double-minded man" is "unstable in all his ways." He says, "let not that man think...

Is it ok for a Christian to kill people?

-- So you are saying then that if you just believe in Jesus, you are saved. After all, that is what is promised, no? "What we do or don't do has no effect on God's promises." - Ducky -- So those parents who kept their child home and prayed for his healing instead of taking him to a...

Is it ok for a Christian to kill people?

But it says, "whosoever believeth in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life." Is that incorrect? Doesn't it say that believing in Jesus is enough for everlasting life? -- So those parents who kept their child home and prayed for his healing instead of taking him to a doctor or a...

Is it ok for a Christian to kill people?

"For God so loved the world that he gave His only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." - John 3:16 -- The devil believes in God. Is he then saved? Many people believe in God and state they hate Him. Are they saved?

Is it ok for a Christian to kill people?

So you are saying that parents why chose to keep their child away from doctors and hospitals in order to let God heal him.....didn't show, at minimum, the faith of a mustard seed?

Is it ok for a Christian to kill people?

Yet that well-beyond "faith of a mustard seed" didn't save their child...

Is it ok for a Christian to kill people?

Of course. Because keeping your near-death child home to pray for him instead of allowing him to be treated by a doctor or hospital that almost certainly would have cured him doesn't come close to the "faith of a mustard seed" that Jesus was talking about. Thanks for clearing that up.

Why are there so much animosity between Catholics and Protestants?

I would venture that anyone within the church who leads others to believe things that are either not supported by scripture, or even run contrary to scripture, are indeed the greatest enemies.

Is it ok for a Christian to kill people?

God said, "Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove;" -- Keeping your child home from a doctor or hospital in order to pray for them because you believe...
