Penal Substitution Theory and the presupposed (eisegesis) definition of מוּסָר in Isaiah 53:5

*Time out* Not both? Do you not believe in a physical resurrection as well? I am more confused. Responding to this later. What happened to the punishment of sin? Was it paid, waved, or ___?

Penal Substitution Theory and the presupposed (eisegesis) definition of מוּסָר in Isaiah 53:5

So the punishment for sin... it is waved away or? What happens to it?

Penal Substitution Theory and the presupposed (eisegesis) definition of מוּסָר in Isaiah 53:5

You just confused me several times. I'm trying though. I'll take this one step at a time, going with the (1). Of course Christ is not condemned. But I thought you just said that Christ suffering /atonement / death was not directly related to the forgiveness of sins. Can you help me out...

Penal Substitution Theory and the presupposed (eisegesis) definition of מוּסָר in Isaiah 53:5

Good questions, getting to real meat & potatoes. Jesus Christ is the Son of God and perfect lamb. His willing sacrifice and atonement was taking our (all that believe on Him) sins onto Himself so that we may be made clean. It also enabled Him to perfectly understand our suffering and succor...

Penal Substitution Theory and the presupposed (eisegesis) definition of מוּסָר in Isaiah 53:5

It's just re-posting something as a reminder for a person to reply. It's been a lively discussion here, and I suspect my question just got lost in the shuffle.

Penal Substitution Theory and the presupposed (eisegesis) definition of מוּסָר in Isaiah 53:5

*bump* for @John Caldwell Trying to understand, no bashing.

Penal Substitution Theory and the presupposed (eisegesis) definition of מוּסָר in Isaiah 53:5

So.. how does this suffering-and-death-for-understanding become an atonement and cleansing of mankind's sins?

Penal Substitution Theory and the presupposed (eisegesis) definition of מוּסָר in Isaiah 53:5

So it is for understanding alone? Not related to directly with justice or sin or sacrifice for sins or removing of sins?

Penal Substitution Theory and the presupposed (eisegesis) definition of מוּסָר in Isaiah 53:5

Trying to understand your view here-- Why did Christ suffer?

Penal Substitution Theory and the presupposed (eisegesis) definition of מוּסָר in Isaiah 53:5

"Punishing" is a really poor word choice. Christ suffered for our sins, and satisfied the demands of justice (being infinitely just). It was a willing sacrifice.

(Actual LDS Christian jumping in here) Seminary with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints isn't an equivalent program to like a Baptist Christian Seminary is. A Baptist Christian seminary is a college (frequently graduate) multi-year degree program with the focus of training...

God is the God of love. That's whom I'm with. Not fear. I make no judgement on you as a person.

    King James Only

LDS Christians aren't Protestant Christians, that's a fact.

    King James Only

I was simply trying to provide better information. The "Mormon Bible" is the KJV. The Book of Mormon is not Bible, even in the eyes of 'Mormons'.

    King James Only

FYI: the "Mormon Bible" is the KJV.

    Halloween Street Preaching

I didn't say anything about different personalities. The disagreement here is over entirely different methods. Not all methods were created equal and some are downright wrong.
  17. J

    Halloween Street Preaching

The disagreement here is the *how* the preaching is done. Not the fact that preaching is done (which everyone agrees is a good thing)

Should the books of the bible been more like 77?

I'm sorry you honestly don't understand, but as I said earlier-- Rather than waste both of our times with another re-run, I wish you a happy Thanksgiving.

Dave, you EXACTLY what behavior I'm referring to.
