    Why are you a Christian?

For me: it's about following Christ, and that relationship. He is the rock that lifted/lifts me up from depths of despair, and with whom I celebrate. Side note: fear-mongrulingg / threats of Hell are.... extremely ineffective method of conviction for me. Love the Lord thy God with all thy...

    mormons exposed.

The Tanners are a downright HORRIBLE source of "information". I don't care if anyone disagrees, agrees, whatever with any beliefs (mine or someone else's). But a person should at least seek out good information from high quality primary sources on the subject. That's just basic scholarship.

    mormons exposed.

That's a pretty impressive reading list! As with all groups, LDS Christians aren't clones of one another. You have your core set of beliefs: the most important, most talked about, most focused, most agree upon, etc. You also have fringe/non-core beliefs: topics that aren't core, aren't...

    mormons exposed.

Lots of topics here: Name: The church's formal name is Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, which is the preferred name. But admittedly it is a mouthful, so there are nicknames. "LDS" is a shorthand one, I'm a fan of "LDS Christian". The most common nickname "Mormon" (referencing...

    mormons exposed.

Hence the importance of: 1) Remembering what is most important, and 2) Not looking at labels and instead actually getting to know a person.

    mormons exposed.

Clarifying the LDS view here: The act of getting dunked itself doesn't save anyone. However, a disciple of Christ should indeed be baptized and formally take on His name.

How do you address opposing Scripture verses?

    0) Pray & seek inspiration & be willing to learn 1) Study context 2) Look at big picture 3) If there still appears to be a contradiction, seek wise counsel. And if there still appears to be a contradiction, maybe look at the possibility that this bit of God's ways you're not going to...

    mormons exposed.

Thumbs up for the good quality source here. LDS Christians also totally believe that Christ was the Only Begotten Son of God before He was born of Mary. LDS Christians also believe the Christ has always been the divine Son of God. I would say that while Protestant Christians and LDS...

    Total Inability: Genesis 1-4

And you are welcome to think that all day long. Me lobbing scriptures at your like they were tennis balls isn't going to change your beliefs. Likewise, you lobbing scriptures at me isn't going to change my beliefs. Debate and forum-based proselytizing are just a waste of time.

    Total Inability: Genesis 1-4

I'm on a forum, I stated my view. And no, I'm really not going to attempt to proselytize you here-- it's a waste of time.

    Total Inability: Genesis 1-4

Both of those, plus anti-scriptural, and more. And no, I'm not going to try to argue with you or prostylize you to a different view.

    Total Inability: Genesis 1-4

With all due respect, this just comes across to me as the Calvinist way of saying "you have all the will to choose which flavor of ice cream to eat and all other inconsequential things. Just not free will where it matters: whether or not to accept the freely given gift of God's sacrifice and...

    It was always beyond ridiculous.

    Total Inability: Genesis 1-4

Before we go into specifics, let's talk big picture. @atpollard are you aware that your very presence here trying to convince men to accept your views runs contradictory to your argument that men don't have free will at all?

    Why do we need priests?

One could also say the for people needing to "un-learn" Protestant traditions before they can accept Jesus' truth. Every group thinks they're right (hence why they belong to that group).
  16. J

    mormons exposed.

Actually no. It's the same depth (rather, range of depths) you'll find sitting on any other set of pews.

    mormons exposed.

Actually members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints believe that we are saved by Christ's sacrifice and grace. Such which calls & causes us to change from the natural sinful man, to a disciple of Christ. Actually Galatians 1 (the entire chapter) is one of the most faith...
  18. J

    mormons exposed.

No. (Answered by an actually member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, nicknamed "Mormon")

    Why do we need priests?

But it does. How a church is lead (and how money is used) are the biggest thing which historically has caused splits in denominations.

    Why do we need priests?

This is an answer that will vary wildly from denomination to denomination. For an extremely general answer: we do need older siblings in the faith to help guide and support us. A Christian sheep was never meant to be alone by themselves.
