    Why Christians Disagree

Hint: all Christians believe that it is *faith* in God that saves. Not your ability to pass a theology test. Have you gone to God in prayer and spoken with Him @Vince ? You don't need to answer that question on the forum at all, but rather I'm asking it for a matter of self-reflection...

    Why Christians Disagree

One could easily ask the same question: why do Christians disagree on so much? why do scientists disagree on so much? why do liberals disagree on so much? Etc. The answer is the same to all: different people have different interpretations of the same things. People aren't clones. Yes...

    The trouble with religion

That doesn't answer my question. Does RCC allow me to come and partake of Communion with you if I just follow Christ? No mention of the following RCC or the Pope, but just Christ.

    The trouble with religion

Quite possibly. Honestly, I have found the best way to get to know people and what those people believe is to simply open your eyes, gt up, and walk into a worship service with them. Listen to their love of Christ, and ask questions with the intent of listening to the answers.

    The trouble with religion

I"m not going to go that far. While I passionately disagree with Catholic doctrine, I will readily acknowledge that I have met many good Catholic people who were earnest disciples of Christ. We are saved by Christ, not by our ability to pass a theology test.

    The trouble with religion

It was a hypothetical question for BoL. I assure you that I am not Catholic and after yeas of studying it (to be thorough) I assure you there are very strong reasons for me not being Catholic.

    The trouble with religion

BoL, if I believe 100% in Christ, with every fiber of my being, strive to follow Him with every breath, and confess that He is my Savior from the bottom of my heart, is that enough to be considered in communion and to partake in the Lord's Supper with you? Note: I"m not saying a thing about...

    Calvinism is a Cult

Have I not answered this question times already? If I have not, I will answer it here again.

    Should I be rebaptised?

Every church I've studied believes a person is baptized unto Christ, not unto that group of people. The desire to have a person be a member of their church is that of wanting to support each other.

    Calvinism is a Cult

No one (Calvinist or not) believes works save you or that a person saves themselves. For a non-Calvinist, accepting the free undeserved gift of the giant mansion of salvation don't remotely mean you earned it or saved yourself. Quite the opposite. All theological group (Calvinist and non)...

    Calvinism is a Cult

Yeah, I'll pass on that idea. Again, I have MAJOR problems with Calvism and it's portrayal of God.

    Calvinism is a Cult

As I've said earlier, I don't find the word "cult" to be anything but destructive mud slinging-- usually done by people who can't be bothered to get their facts straight about what a person or group *actually* believes. I've ben subjugated to this treatment personally far too much, and seen it...

    Calvinism is a Cult

I totally a million percent agree with that statement. I passionately disagree Calvinism, but the anti-calvinism blind attacking that has been going on in this forum is NOT ok. It's ok to disagree with people, even passionately disagree, but it is totally possible to do so in a civil...

    Calvinism is a Cult

Sometimes even when a person does respond calmly and rationally people don't like it :p (Just trying the be light hearted and friendly here)

    Calvinism is a Cult

I did not go and throw a bunch of scriptures at you with the goal to change your view because I'm not going to disrespect you way or scripture.

    Calvinism is a Cult

I am fully aware of the Calvinistic born-a-slave viewpoint. I just passionately disagree with it, for reasons I explained earlier. Thank you for your time.

    Calvinism is a Cult

Does such a man also have the free will to *not* come to Him? From the Calvinist standpoint: no. There is no choice for anyone to come or not at any point. From the non-Calvinist standpoint: yes. God gives that free will to everyone- it is a gift, as is salvation.

    Calvinism is a Cult

Everyone agree with what you said thus far, and that is is God's glory that we are saved. But this response doesn't get at the core of this disagreement: 1) Is the gift of salvation a gift which is offered to all men, whom can accept or reject it 2) Or is the gift of salvation something a person...

    Calvinism is a Cult

Everyone believes that it is faith which saves. The difference comes in with the following question: is faith a gift from God (the person can accept or reject it), or is faith something God puts on a person and the person has no choice in the matter.

    Altar call

I think there's so disagreement here on what is meant by "alter call" and "coming to the alter". It can mean either: 1) A person coming to God. Doesn't necessarily mean a literal alter. 2) The specific practice of some preachers saying "come down to the alter if you have been saved tonight!"...
