OSAS is the result of the finished work of the cross

Freedom includes the choice to stay or leave.

What I actually believe -- sharing love of Christ

Amen! In short: I go where Christ commands me to go and where He tells me His Truth is. There's been a mountain of study, prayer, contemplation, etc behind things. But I honestly have gone where He commands me to. I love visiting other churches (Christian and non) and hearing about what they...

OSAS is the result of the finished work of the cross

You're playing the "no true Scotsman" card. I don't play that card. And I don't believe that a caged love like OSAS is the greater love. The greater love is given when someone chooses to be there.

What I actually believe -- sharing love of Christ

Sadness on missing out being with God. The afterlife of unrepentant sinners is a very comofrtable-- wonders and physical comforts and (shallow) happiness much more than you or I could dream of today. But the Father does not reside there. And there is that deep sadness for not being with Him.

What I actually believe -- sharing love of Christ

No unclean thing can enter His presence. We must be washed of our sins by the Savior. Good verse.

What I actually believe -- sharing love of Christ

I don't love Christ because I'm trying to afraid some eternal barbecue if I don't. And frankly, I find such fear-based motivation to be... extremely undesirable in any relationship, let alone the most important one (with God). Rather, I come to Christ out of love and emulate Him out of that...

OSAS is the result of the finished work of the cross

I realize that this statement is going to horribly offend you, but to explain my views. Again, I respect that you views are different than mine. In clinal psychology, that's^ called Stockholm Syndrome. I don't stay with God because I'm a prisoner that have no choice but to stay and love...

What I actually believe -- sharing love of Christ

Sorry it took me so long to get back to you @Mayflower. Work was crazy busy last week. Your understanding is mostly correct. There is some stuff details timing that could use clarification, but not something to worry about. I'd rather stay big picture right now: yes, I (and other LDS...

OSAS is the result of the finished work of the cross

@Heb 13:8 do you believe a person have the CHOICE to stay with Christ? Do they have the option to say "no thank you" and walk out the door?

OSAS is the result of the finished work of the cross

I 100% acknowledge and celebrate Christ's actions on the cross. But because I believe Christ (being ever loving) gives us the choice to come/stay with Him, I cannot accept OSAS (wherein that choice whether to stay doesn't exisit).

OSAS is the result of the finished work of the cross

Hence why I don't believe in OSAS, and instead believe Christ always lets the person choose to be/stay by His side. Because He loves us and is the manifestation of that miraculous love.

OSAS is the result of the finished work of the cross

And each person has the choice to come to Christ and to whether to STAY. In OSAS, there is not that choice. I don't know how you specifically view those who have fallen away from the faith, but vast majority of the OSAS explanations of such happenings I find... to be rather luckluster.

OSAS is the result of the finished work of the cross

Because Christ is not a jailer: I can choose to leave at any point. I'm not in jail where I have no choice. And I choose to stay again every day. Each day I renew my promises with Him. Never do I neglect Christ and let that relationship. Sadly, I've seen others choose to leave Christ and...

OSAS is the result of the finished work of the cross

Do you hear me when I, as a non-OSAS believer, say that my focus is NOT on myself?
  15. J

OSAS is the result of the finished work of the cross

^This is COMPLETELY inaccurate. Again, I respect your right to believe OSAS. But please do NOT misrepresent what other people believe. You can believe in OSAS while acknowledge the truth of what other people belief (such as that non-OSAS do focus on serving Christ).

OSAS is the result of the finished work of the cross

I"m not. I literally just said:
  17. J

OSAS is the result of the finished work of the cross

Vast majority of non-OSAS Christians (including myself) don't go about their lives worrying about "am I saved or still saved or do X in or to be saved right". That's just not a non-OSAS person's focus. Rather, the focus is simply on Christ and loving/following Him continually. It's very...

OSAS is the result of the finished work of the cross

^This is not an accurate representation on non-OSAS beliefs. Again, I respect that you believe OSAS, but please don't misrepresent other people's beliefs.
  19. J

OSAS is the result of the finished work of the cross

Again, I respect t that OSAS is your belief. I've just seen such a belief do a LOT of harm to lots of different Christians, in many different walks of life. Personally, I'd rather just keep my focus on being devoted to God every day.

OSAS is the result of the finished work of the cross

Personally, I find the "faith vs works" argument to be very much a word-games based red herring. We ALL believe that it's impossible for man to save themselves. We ALL believe that Christ is the one that does the saving. We ALL believe that a person must accept Christ is order to be saved...
