    Books Outside the Bible

I urge forgiveness, as Christ does, and instead you urge me to attack other people. Yes, people do bad things, I get that-- I myself have spent my entire life being persecuted because folks life about what I believe. But instead of turning bitter and going on a anti crusade, I try to forgive...

An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind. @BreadOfLife , I'm sure you've been wronged by people spouting anti lies at you. I also have a long history seeing people spouting lies about what I believe. I relate to you there all too well. But we can't go around constantly crusading and...

No I was never antagonistic. May I suggest that not everyone is out to attack Catholics at all? There are many prejudices out there, not just anti-Catholic. By learning to look past prejudice, we can better love and understand each other, and better serve as Christ would have us do.

Then why in the world are you getting on my case? I hadn't even mention Catholics until you specifically brought it up, and then I stated my respect for many things Catholics. I have not Catholic bashed or lied/misrepresented Catholic beliefs (I very much object to both of those actions).

And I respect that that's your belief. Now obviously other people have other beliefs, and I'm going to respect them as well.

There are MANY churches out there besides Protestants and Catholics. For example, look at all the Orthodox branches. I'm not here to Catholic bash or anything silly like that. I honestly respect Catholics and much about the Catholic faith, and have attended various Catholics services over the...

I have in no way at anytime in this thread talked about specifically about Catholics at all, so I'm not sure where you are getting this post from.

And we also have many non-Protestant churches that rely on different weights/versions of history, have different beliefs from each other, and different practices. Diversity in beliefs is is NO way a Protestant-only thing.

The role history should play, and which history, is something you'll find a wide variety of opinions on.

I actually don't find the two ideas (listening to the Holy Spirit and a formalized church teaching system) to be incompatible at all. Rather, ideally they should always both being used, providing two different routes of confirmation. Of course, to determine which formalized church teaching...

One of the reasons I disagree with sola scriptura is because after attended dozens of different churches, I've never actually met a Christian who actually just used the Bible. There's always the matter of interpretation, extended context, etc, whether or not the person realizes it. For me...

    Limited Atonement VS Universal Atonement

We literally have been over this exact verse this vary thread. It literally says "they still refused to believe in him" - the people are choosing to not listen to the Holy Spirit and choosing to reject the gift of faith. It's not that God didn't offer them the gift, but that they choose to...

    Limited Atonement VS Universal Atonement

Another way of stating this: faith is no simply saying "oh yeah, I love God" and then continuing kiss Satan's feet. Rather, faith is about giving your entire self-- you heart, your mind, your might, your soul, to Him. It is all done continually through God's power.

And why do you think He doesn't offer this gift out to everyone?
