What are you called to do?

Obviously there's the things everyone is called to -- to love, to follow God, to witness of Him, etc. For me particularly: understanding people, bridging perspectives, reaching those that feel alone, and family history linkages.

Proof: You were only forgiven of your past sins!

I'm just trying to understand people's ways/thoughts-- what is the logic behind it? Things like background assumptions, logical processes, conclusions, resulting actions, etc. Sometimes people have really good logic, even if it's totally different than our own. Granted, some other times...

    Against Gnosticism

For example, my definitions: Body: is pretty obvious. The organic physical thing that was created in your mother's womb, now moves around with you, and will continue to exist (and decay) after your death. Spirit: isn't something you can just see with your eyes, still is important. It's the...

That is helpful. I know many people (including myself) which would have used different definitions for those.

    Against Gnosticism

I totally totally agree that definitions are SO frequently misunderstood. Especially is theological settings. Hence my recommendation on stating clear definitions right away, and then going from there.

    Against Gnosticism

(Below is just hopefully helpful writing tips) I find a lot of the time labels aren't the most helpful things in the world. A stronger way to talk about your point here would to be to just talk about your point, sans the labels. When you do have to use nouns ("body", "spirit", etc) it's best...

Proof: You were only forgiven of your past sins!

Again, you didn't answer. With all due respect, I'm getting the impression that you really don't value scripture, listening to the Spirit, and very much prize the traditions of men (as long as they reflect your own personal interpretation). Here's the questions once again: Scripture is...

Proof: You were only forgiven of your past sins!

Ok, that's partially answered. Scripture is God-breathed and inspired by God Himself. Do you hold the same to be true of the Chalcedoian Creed? Athanasian? You did state that the Westminster is not. Why? And by what logic do you conclude the statement "But to reject creeds and accept books...

Proof: You were only forgiven of your past sins!

Not an answer to any of my questions. Let's try again. Pointing out: scripture is God-breathed and inspired by God Himself. Do you hold the same to be true of the Westminster Creed? (Just for one example). And by what logic do you conclude the statement "But to reject creeds and accept...

Proof: You were only forgiven of your past sins!

Your stance here is very self defeating.

Proof: You were only forgiven of your past sins!

Note: you are aruguing for a view point that is not Sola Scriptura here. and with your arguments about the Creeds. I'm not saying that it's a bad thing at all, rather just pointing out that you are arguing for sources other than just the Bible to be considered authoritative.

Proof: You were only forgiven of your past sins!

Thoroughly studied the documents themselves, historical background/context, and the implications/impacts they have each had. Now, would you care to directly answer my question: And if someone reads a post-Biblical document and after study/prayer, determines that they are written by man and do...

    Books Outside the Bible

That question is something you'll get a million opinions on. As to my $0.02: again, I've never met a Christian who's studies actually came just from the Bible (however many books you think should be in it). There's always stuff like historical context, other people's writings on passages, other...

Proof: You were only forgiven of your past sins!

And if someone reads a post-Biblical document and after study/prayer, determines that they are written by man and do not 100% reflect God's Truth? What then in your thought process?

Proof: You were only forgiven of your past sins!

Again, there are a number of people who disagree with that, and do not believe salvation is dependent on accepting these statements written by men.

Proof: You were only forgiven of your past sins!

I don't know if everyone would agree with that statement. There are a number of folks who don't agree with the post-biblical Creeds, but do very much believe the Bible and have a great relationship with Christ.

    i honestly feel trapped.

Guys, lets remember that MM is a minor. A child. Yes, rapidly approaching adulthood, but not their yet (mentally/emotionally/financially/education/etc). It makes things much more complicated than if you were talking to an adult who could drive themselves to work, financially support...

    i honestly feel trapped.

The word "cult" has many conflicting definitions (most of them very emotionally charged), making it useless for having a conversation. The core of being a Christian is being a disciple of Christ- that's written right in Acts. Now obviously there's different sub-groups of being a Christian, and...
