Proof: You were only forgiven of your past sins!

Frankly, you've only proven to me how you worship your own ego. Anyone who doesn't agree with you on which manmade documents are correct automatically "doesn't know his Bible". You have placed "agreeing with Dave and other sinners" automatically automatically above listening the Holy Spirit...

Proof: You were only forgiven of your past sins!

So Bob automatically "doesn't know his Bible" if he doesn't agree with Dave's answer. Wow, how egotistical of an answer. Way to completely way away the Holy Spirit, Bob as a person, scripture study, looking to God, etc. It's all about whether or not you agree with Dave and the sinners who...

Proof: You were only forgiven of your past sins!

NOT REMOTELY AN ANSWER!!!! You've admitted that you find manmade documents XYZ to be flawed, but you like ABC. That wasn't my question. My question was what if Bob reads manmade ABC, does lots of studying/prayer and comes to the conclusion that they are wrong? What then?

Proof: You were only forgiven of your past sins!

No you haven't remotely. Instead you have trolled me with endless deflections and tangents. *If* you remotely value education or the Gospel or anyone's time on here, ACTUALLY answer even one question here. I'll even start the answer for you-- Question: what if someone does that and upon...

Proof: You were only forgiven of your past sins!

If you think education is a good thing, you should have no problem answering my questions about your beliefs. But you don't. Over and over again. Thereby, you're forcing me to conclude you don't value education, sharing your beliefs, people on this forum, or scripture itself.

Proof: You were only forgiven of your past sins!

Once again, you didn't answer a single one of my questions. Jane asked: And by what logic do you conclude the statement "But to reject creeds and accept books is not evidence of clear thinking"? How does this compare to your rejection the Westminster Creed? Dave answered...

Has anyone here ever read this document?

With all due respect, that not a great conversation starter, because people disagree on which teachings are the strange ones, which church and teachers are His True ones, etc. Which leads up back to the original question: how are those answers determined? Hence the need for discussing baseline...

    Who managed to quit smoking?

Best way: never start. That's my recommendation.

What are you called to do?

Not really. People have their individual choices. More just understanding the stories of you forefathers/mothers.

    What's your favorite airline?

My favorite airline: the one that doesn't loose my luggage. Many many have and I'd rather not remember those headaches :P

    Against Gnosticism

For my thoughts: Romans 8 is not a statement talking about the philosophy behind different parts of a person. Rather, it's focusing on stating "you need to get your hold self to God"

What are you called to do?

Understanding people's families / better helping them understand it. Not really the "begats" in scripture. I mean, those are cool, but not my personal calling area.
  13. J

Proof: You were only forgiven of your past sins!

That depends on what the conversation is about / what the goals are. If a person's goal are to discern Truth, prayer & scripture study are the way to go. Internet forums... not so much. Speaking as for my goals asking @Dave L questions: that's because I want to better understand what @Dave L...

Proof: You were only forgiven of your past sins!

I just don't get why some people have to make conversations so hard. It makes me want to throw my hands up in the air and shout "I want to understand what YOU believe and I'm asking YOU. Why can't YOU just answer about what YOU believe?" After a while even I (Miss-way-too-stubbern) give up...

Proof: You were only forgiven of your past sins!

So.... Jane asked: And by what logic do you conclude the statement "But to reject creeds and accept books is not evidence of clear thinking"? How does this compare to your rejection the Westminster Creed? Dave answered: ____???_______???_______ And as I asked before: what if someone does that...
  16. J

Proof: You were only forgiven of your past sins!

Ok, so now you're finally starting to answer my questions. Jane asked: Scripture is God-breathed and inspired by God Himself. Do you hold the same to be true of the Chalcedoian Creed? Athanasian? You did state that the Westminster is not. Why? Dave answered: No. Scripture is God's word. Creeds...
  17. J

Proof: You were only forgiven of your past sins!

So you don't hold that scripture itself is God-breathed, or that it's God's Words. Rather you believe that it is not different than any other man made book. ... I'm not sure what to say to that position...it's been a long time since I talked to a Christian that flat out denied the inspired...

Has anyone here ever read this document?

@Marymog , what you're getting at here and in many of your other posts is the different epistemological regimes different people have. Might I suggest that this issue would be best tackled with a direct thread about it?

Proof: You were only forgiven of your past sins!

Please actually answer the question about YOUR beliefs. Again: This is very strongly giving the impression that you don't think God-breathed scripture is different from any other written text-- say "Oliver Twist" or a biology text book or tax code book. Is that truly how you feel about scripture?
