    Discerning : The Water Cults

And yet I always give scripture to substantiate my pov....so you're saying that there is terrible theology in the holy scriptures. What I am preaching has nothing to do with the Jehovah's Witnesses or their false gospel. People were baptized underneath His ministry (John 4:1-2).

Chart comparing Christianity to different religions

That is not true. The context of the 1st epistle of John is that John wrote it to deal with the gnostic heresy that was infiltrating the early church on his watch.

    No authority!

The doctrines of devils that I was mainly speaking of were the ones spoken of in the scripture that you ignored: that of forbidding to marry; a doctrine which is prevalent in the Catholic Church but which I do not see in many Protestant circles. Not different than what is taught in scripture...

    Calvinism vs. Arminianism

Again, will Jesus "reject" the "non-elect"? Because obviously, He knows who the non-elect are from eternity past. So, if a non-elect person does what it takes to receive salvation (such as what is prescribed in Romans 10:8-13 or Acts of the Apostles 2:38-39), will Jesus cast them out for that...

    Calvinism vs. Arminianism

[~QUOTE="justbyfaith, post: 958768, member: 7886"] As concerning 3... It seems to me that the point of Limited Atonement indicates that if someone is of the non-elect, they cannot be saved even if they do what it takes to be saved. I have argued this point with Calvinists before. I have said...

    Calvinism vs. Arminianism

[~QUOTE="justbyfaith, post: 958725, member: 7886"]Go over my assessment of Calvinism in the OP and show me what I have said that is referring to hyper-Calvinism and then show what non-hyper-Calvinism teaches on the subject; so I can get a better understanding of what non-hyper-Calvinism really...

Repentance is the Gift Of God !

And what is your scriptural basis for saying that? Also, is placing one's faith in Jesus as a free will choice performing in order to save one's self?

The gnostics whom John was dealing with denied the humanity of Jesus.

    No authority!

Certainly not ALL. Those who have the Holy Ghost. Many in the Catholic Church do not have the Holy Ghost, they have been led astray by doctrines of devils. 1Ti 4:1, Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits...

So what's so new about the new Covenant, and is it better, really?

Romans 13:8-10 teaches us that the ten commandments along with any other commandment are fulfilled in the commandment to "love thy neighbor as thyself." In other words, the commandments of God are the specifics of God's love.

    Calvinism vs. Arminianism

I don't find a difference between that and hyper-Calvinism at its roots.

So what's so new about the new Covenant, and is it better, really?

If someone is a murderer, you give them the death penalty so that they will not kill innocent people. You kill them out of love for the innocent people who will not end up being victims because you gave that person the death penalty.

So what's so new about the new Covenant, and is it better, really?

Actually, Jesus is the God who created those laws in the first place.

So what's so new about the new Covenant, and is it better, really?

Rom 13:8, Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law. Rom 13:9, For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other...

Some of these laws that you call horrible are actually the wisdom of the Lord in that the provide a deterrent against committing crimes.
