Why John 6:37 is grossly misunderstood and misapplied

Notice that the Father was drawing me at that moment; and yet I had the option of going in the opposite direction. And I probably would have if I hadn't previously heard the verse in question.

Why John 6:37 is grossly misunderstood and misapplied

In my own testimony I was tempted to sell my soul to the devil over something that had happened, but I had previously heard the truth of God's word that Mar 8:36, For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? My response was to say to God, "God, I...

Why John 6:37 is grossly misunderstood and misapplied

So then, are you saying that placing faith in Jesus isn't a choice that we make? Eph 2:8, For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Eph 2:9, Not of works, lest any man should boast. We are saved by grace through faith; that means we go through...

Why John 6:37 is grossly misunderstood and misapplied

The salvation is wrought by the blood of Christ's cleansing power; but not without our permission.

Why John 6:37 is grossly misunderstood and misapplied

I don't think it is. I believe that the choice we make to either receive or reject Christ is not a work. We are saved by grace through faith (Ephesians 2:8-9); we are justified by faith, and have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand (Romans 5:1-2). Do we go by the arguments of...

No other President of the USA has gotten such acclaim by so many

I believe that the following scripture is appropo: Isa 33:6, And wisdom and knowledge shall be the stability of thy times, and strength of salvation: the fear of the LORD is his treasure.

Why John 6:37 is grossly misunderstood and misapplied

No; I believe in faith righteousness that results in works.

How do you respond to "Christians are hypocrites"?

Rom 9:28, For he will finish the work, and cut it short in righteousness: because a short work will the Lord make upon the earth.

How do you respond to "Christians are hypocrites"?

One view may indeed excuse weakness and the other may indeed give hope to reach for a higher option. This would give us an emotional reason to want to believe one view over and above the other (if we desire to have victory over sin); however, having an emotional reason to believe something is...

Why John 6:37 is grossly misunderstood and misapplied

Yes, we come because He draws; however His drawing of us does not guarantee that we will come; it only makes it possible.

Why John 6:37 is grossly misunderstood and misapplied

The Father drawing someone to Jesus does not necessarily mean that they will come to Him. The Father giving them to Jesus does, according to these scriptures (John 6:37 and John 6:44) So then, if the Father draws me to Jesus and I respond in faith, then and only then does He give me to Him...

How do you respond to "Christians are hypocrites"?

I am certainly not ashamed of saying it. For you called me arrogant first: Just thought I would quote that so you won't slink back later and remove it. Answering you in such a way that provides for you not becoming wise in your own eyes.

How do you respond to "Christians are hypocrites"?

Obviously not, in its historical context. Key words being "in the likeness of" iow, not in sinful flesh, but, in the likeness of sinful flesh.

Arguing over such a peripheral issue as whether Abraham lied, to me seems very trivial. There are bigger fish to fry in the arena of doctrine than this.

How do you respond to "Christians are hypocrites"?

So the Bible does not mean what it says? This is not the view of someone who is born again of the Holy Spirit. btw, what verse are you referring to containing the word "soon"? Really? because from our first contact, you came off as highly arrogant from my perspective. You even look...

How do you respond to "Christians are hypocrites"?

If I read in my Bible that Jesus is coming soon today and He comes tomorrow then He did indeed come soon from my perspective...God certainly wasn't lying to me. For the person who lived 2,00 years ago He came for them the moment that they took their last breath. Still "soon". God wasn't lying...

How do you respond to "Christians are hypocrites"?

@Willie T, do you believe in Jesus? Scripture interprets scripture...the obvious answer to that objection is that the with the Lord a day is as a thousand years and a thousand years is as a day. Our understanding grows over time; and the Lord will get you right on the essentials the moment you...

No other President of the USA has gotten such acclaim by so many

In Bible classes, students could be required to go to Christian Message Boards and do a report on any thread question that suits their fancy. It should probably be limited to questions that aren't foolish; but other than that it would be a class that has to do with learning and understanding...

I feel that in the recent State of the Union Address, Trump showed more humility (i.e. "IN MY OPINION") than at other times. The Lord has been working on his heart. I have certainly been praying that the Lord will give him wisdom.
