Why Hell is not a place of eternal conscious torment.

Well we certainly shouldn't believe you when you claim that "Christians know that Jesus taught more about Hell fire than eternal life" (post #656) if you can't prove it. It seems that you are so lacking in confidence in your claim that you haven't event attempted to try to prove it. This...

Why Hell is not a place of eternal conscious torment.

No. I've never been to a Kingdom Hall. By your response it looks like you can't prove what you claimed. 1 Thessalonians 5:21 (KJV): (21) Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.

Why Hell is not a place of eternal conscious torment.

It's amazing how people can be very familar with a verse, and yet seem blind to what it says. I'm thinking in particular about John 3:16 (KJV), the most famous verse in the Bible (according to Most popular Bible verse in the world): (16) For God so loved the world, that he gave his only...

No, I don't believe in the Trinity.

Why Hell is not a place of eternal conscious torment.

I don't believe it. I challenge you to prove that. Jesus taught more about the kingdom of God and eternal life than he did about hell and burning in fire, and more about Gehenna than hades - he only mentions hades four times, whereas he mentions the kingdom of God around a hundred times.

Why Hell is not a place of eternal conscious torment.

There is 1,000 years set aside for teaching the truth, while Satan is locked up (Rev 20:2) to prevent him from deceiving mankind, and to change those bad people into good people. The resurrected Church will be working with Jesus to bless these people for 1,000 years (which is longer than...

Why Hell is not a place of eternal conscious torment.

Psalms 146:4 (MKJV): (4) His breath goes forth; he returns to the earth; in that very day his thoughts perish. Eccliastes 9:5 (WEB): (5) For the living know that they will die, but the dead don’t know anything, neither do they have any more a reward; for their memory is forgotten. If all your...

Why Hell is not a place of eternal conscious torment.

But what is the punishment for sin? It's eternal death, not eternal life of physical torment/torture. Rom 6:23 - For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Eze 18:4,20 - The soul who sins, he shall die. Rev 20:14 - Death and Hades were...

Why Hell is not a place of eternal conscious torment.

We've had this discussion before (last September - What Are we Getting Saved From). This was my reply then: So what of the phrase "they will be tormented day and night forever and ever"? We know from chapter 17 and other verses of Scripture that tell of the destruction of Satan (Hebrews 2:14...

Why Hell is not a place of eternal conscious torment.

Revelation 20:14 (WEB): (14) Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire.

Why Hell is not a place of eternal conscious torment.

Barnes Notes says: In the heart of the earth - The Jews used the word “heart” to denote the “interior” of a thing, or to speak of being in a thing. It means, here, to be in the grave or sepulchre.

Why Hell is not a place of eternal conscious torment.

Matthew 12:40 (WEB): (40) For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the whale, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

    What is "Parousia"?

Yes I do understand myself! God didn't promise Abraham that there would be a resurrection, he just said that one of his descendants would bless all nations. God did tell Daniel that the dead would be resurrected (Daniel 12:2), and Hosea (Hosea 13:14) and to others as well I'm sure (I don't...

    What is "Parousia"?

[You somehow managed to misquote what I wrote. The words "many will come from east and west, and sit down with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven" was what you wrote, not me.] A doesn't equal B, but if you are a Christian then you are also heirs according to the promise - the...

    What is "Parousia"?

Why do you think that that means that Abraham (and other Old Testatment people) will have a part in the first resurrection? This was God's promise to Abraham, Genesis 22:16-18 (WEB): (16) and said, “I have sworn by myself, says Yahweh, because you have done this thing, and have not withheld...

    What is "Parousia"?

You're repeating the same quotes again, but it doesn't change what they mean. Really? Well I never! Believing that verses of Scripture mean something that they don't doesn't save you or qualify you for the a part in the first resurrection. As I said in my previous post, the Gospel preached...

    What is "Parousia"?

So what? The Church is resurrected (the first resurrection) before the Great Tribulation. The timing of Jesus' Second Coming has no bearing on who has a part in the first resurrection (other than if you're still around at that time then you missed having a part in the first resurrection!).

    What is "Parousia"?

You're going around in circles - we've already been over this passage (see my post #450 from 4 days ago). The Gospel was not preached to the Israelites that were brought out of Egypt and wandered in the wilderness for forty years (see chapter 3). They were told some "good news" but it was not...

    What is "Parousia"?

The Israelites being delivered from their enemies (or from death) does not mean that they will have a part in the first resurrection. The fact that it refers to the Great Tribulation, which occurs after the Church has been resurrected, means that the living Israelites at that time won't have a...
