John 1:1 - Jesus is the Father or he's not the one true God?

Good point. It depends on whether "and" is connecting two nouns or two descriptives. I've said that many times myself about someone reading the scriptures with no prior idea that Jesus is God. The idea comes first, and then the scriptures are made to fit the idea. Of course that can't actually...

John 1:1 - Jesus is the Father or he's not the one true God?

That is not how to diagram a sentence, but that's kind of beside the point. What is important is to understand is that using the word "and" to connect two nouns (God and Jesus in this case) does not make those two things one.

John 1:1 - Jesus is the Father or he's not the one true God?

I have to wonder if PinSeeker is a troll. Him and a few others here. They don't seem to care about making sense. They just want to tear down anything that does make sense. I'm pretty sure that's more of less what a troll is. Forgive me if I'm wrong on that.

John 1:1 - Jesus is the Father or he's not the one true God?

I ate an apple and a peach. Was "it" red or yellow? I know. It makes no sense. There is no answer to such a nonsensical idea. You first assume that Jesus is God and then squeeze that idea into the verse so as to fit that assumption. How about their being one God i.e., Yahweh and one Lord i.e...

John 1:1 - Jesus is the Father or he's not the one true God?

I know what you are saying, but technically there are some things God cannot do. Titus 1:2, In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began; There's at least one thing that is impossible with God. There are others, such as: God cannot break His promises...

A lot better than the mark of the Beast! :)

John 1:1 - Jesus is the Father or he's not the one true God?

Despite the clear statement that God only knew Abraham would obey until the one moment and not before, you still want to interject a preconceived idea. How does that verse not say God didn't know until that moment? So you think I really don't have the free will to write what I write? I'm...

John 1:1 - Jesus is the Father or he's not the one true God?

While you may not consciously use other people's material, I dare say that if anyone who read nothing but the scriptures would conclude that Jesus is God. I think you got that idea because everybody already knows that Jesus is God before ever cracking the book. The idea, as false as it is, is in...

John 1:1 - Jesus is the Father or he's not the one true God?

True enough! It's pretty hard to get into the real meat of the scriptures in a discussion such as take place in these forums. I think we all often just scratch the surface here. Just from our discussion I really have no idea of your fruit, but I trust it is just fine. I would have to know you...

John 1:1 - Jesus is the Father or he's not the one true God?

Why do you suppose God didn't know if Abraham would sacrifice Isaac until the knife was ready to puncture his chest? Gen 22:12, And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him: for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine...

John 1:1 - Jesus is the Father or he's not the one true God?

Well, Jesus specifically said he wanted us to be one with them.

John 1:1 - Jesus is the Father or he's not the one true God?

In all of our discussion, there is only one little thing I copied and pasted to save time. I'm surprised you saw that. Or did you see it? What little part did I quote? Take a guess, and then I'll tell you exactly what it was.

John 1:1 - Jesus is the Father or he's not the one true God?

You are absolutely correct on that, but aren't you also going to bow your knee to him at that time? Interesting that the verse you referred to was talking about Christian judging other Christians. Rom 14:10-11, 10 But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy...

John 1:1 - Jesus is the Father or he's not the one true God?

Yes, but even with that clarification, it still doesn't give us license to say things that completely defy normal language, grammar, and logic. Before saying that God is somehow above logic, consider John 1:1 and all the other places where we find the Greek word "logos."

John 1:1 - Jesus is the Father or he's not the one true God?

In John, Jesus prayed twice that we would all be one. Does that make us all God? Better reconsider what it means to be one. I just read where a mob "was one" in their demands for better living conditions. I almost hate to bring it up, but it is a fact that both ancient Hebrew and Greek were...

John 1:1 - Jesus is the Father or he's not the one true God?

Isaiah 55:9 has a context and it's not saying nobody can understand God. Jesus himself said he came to make God known (John 15:15), so Isaiah can't be saying God can't be known. It certainly is no justification for the Athenasian Creed. Isaiah is just saying He knows better than man what is good...

John 1:1 - Jesus is the Father or he's not the one true God?

Would you mind explaining why my not agreeing with you is "stone headedness"? Why isn't you who is stone headed for not agreeing with me? I think it's a pretty convoluted answer you gave to 1 Cor 8:6. Did you ever do sentence diagramming in school? If so, you might try applying it to...

John 1:1 - Jesus is the Father or he's not the one true God?

Rom 8:9, But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. Just because there is a spirit of God and a spirit of Christ, they are both God? There are no less than 4 verses that talk...

John 1:1 - Jesus is the Father or he's not the one true God?

"Mystical" - A perfect description of Gnosticism.

John 1:1 - Jesus is the Father or he's not the one true God?

I think scholarship is far better than tradition. Not one single verse you quoted is as clear in saying Jesus is God as John 17:3 and 1 Cor 8:6 are in saying only the Father is not God.
