I hate women in the locker room. I hate women explaining men's sporting games. But mostly I hate

Apologies if I said the part out loud when I should have just...

I hate women in the locker room. I hate women explaining men's sporting games. But mostly I hate

Men love to explain things. We over-explain things... to the point where we've ridiculed for "man-splaining." If we aren't explaining... that probably means don't care to debate the merits of a decision that we've already made. Closed for discussion.

I hate women in the locker room. I hate women explaining men's sporting games. But mostly I hate

I agree - the women are better at shooting accurately than the men. They have better muscle endurance and usually better patience than the men, and those are important. But, the men are better at hefting bigger weapons that make accuracy less important...

I hate women in the locker room. I hate women explaining men's sporting games. But mostly I hate

For many sports, the men's and women's divisions are practically different games. Men's tennis, for instance, is a game of power serving. The guys mostly launch the ball past each other at high speeds. Women's tennis is much more a game of rallies, with most serves being returned. This makes...

    Most accurate modern translation?

It's not unfathomable. I'm not exactly a classical trinitarian, although I don't feel like I can discuss that here. But I certainly believe, "He is the image of the invisible God" and that involves a measure of divinity.

    Most accurate modern translation?

Oh, but it IS. There is lord and there is LORD. The former is a title - owner. The latter is the proper name of God. The Jews do not write or say God's proper name, substituting the former word in common conversation. Jesus Christ is LORD.

    Most accurate modern translation?

I didn't say anything about 'God the Son." The whole of the New Testament affirms that Jesus Christ is Lord. Both Christ and Lord are divine titles. I continue to question how one can call themselves Christian if Christ is not their Lord.

How exactly are you a Christian if you don't believe in the deity of Jesus?

    Most accurate modern translation?

I think so... I haven't had my coffee yet, but let's give it the ol' college try, eh? Look at the word substance in Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Ἔστιν δὲ πίστις ἐλπιζομένων ὑπόστασις πραγμάτων ἔλεγχος οὐ βλεπομένων We can see...

Is the shedding of blood required for the forgiveness of sins?

The Hebrew word for atonement actually means 'to coat in something.' Usually blood, oil, or tar.

Uh oh... I am thinking again. .... about why we dont agree on most things

Maybe something about the 2000-year-long game of telephone

Is the shedding of blood required for the forgiveness of sins?

Covenants are legal contracts - they usually tell us the penalties for failing to adhere to the terms, and for a blood covenant that penalty is death. Perhaps the death of the offending party, but often provision is made for a proxy. Hence, animal sacrifices. Yes, within the terms of a...

    Most accurate modern translation?

It was in the 17th century when it was created. But... words shift in meaning over time, or become obsolete. It isn't that the translation is bad. It's that the English language itself has changed throughout the intervening centuries, and so the words from the older translations don't mean...

There are more commandments in the New Testament than in the Old

Those are only the negative commandments (prohibitions). There are also positive commandments, like "honor your father and mother."

New Revised Standard Version Updated Edition (NRSVUE) The gold standard in academic circles.

What are the most important issues in the 2024 election?

The economy by far and away. Border security a distant second. And the collusion of the FDA with the Pharmaceutical and Food Industries should be on the list, but nobody is talking about that. That agency needs a housecleaning, or perhaps to be sacked completely and start over.

Where does the Pope get his authority?

Sure, but that just means they're meeting you on your own terms. When it comes right down to it, they believe that the Bible gets its authority from the Church, and not the other way round. Just ask them; they'll tell you so.

Where does the Pope get his authority?

These are precisely the reasonable arguments that I mentioned earlier... My belief is that nobody can make an apostle of Jesus Christ EXCEPT for Jesus Christ. It's the definition of the thing. The King gives a writ of authority to His messenger allowing the messenger to act and give orders...

Where does the Pope get his authority?

In Acts 15? I don't see it there. You could make a case from Acts 1 (the appointment of Matthias) or from the pastoral epistles. I would reject both of those arguments, but you could make a reasonable case. It never started. The criteria to be an apostle is that one receives a commission...
