What does it mean to be born again?

....become a reality???? This, of course, is a denial of the power of the cross to work in us at the present time. You speak in circles as so many here...claiming one thing and then another...with no consistency. So either you agree with Patrick that being born again is for a future age...where...

What does it mean to be born again?

We are meant to "seek first" the kingdom of God and His righteousness. Surely that doesn't mean we are to seek to die physically.

What does it mean to be born again?

What does it mean to be born again? Are we God's favourites without responsibility? Or are we become the people of God equivalent to the Jews?...and with the same risk of being cut off for lack of bearing the right kind of fruit?

What is the one true Church?

I like this. Did you get this from Watchman Nee? And the angel could be seen as the Bishop of a certain city.

What is the one true Church?

The church of God isn't limited to any man-made distinctive. It is a spiritual brotherhood. The church can't be humanly organized. So then what are the religious denominations about? They are about catering and compromising with the flesh in order to get at the deeper connection to God...

I And My Father Are One

When Jesus said "I and My Father are one" He was making a statement on the level of the Shema...Bot Jesus and the Father are Echad (One) "Hear O Israel, the Lord our God (and) the Lord ARE One"

    Studying the Septuagint (LXX)

For a deeper look into the above we go to PS. 22...with the depiction of Jesus being crucified...with the words..."all my bones are out of joint"..in v. 15' In Hebrew this reads... ְהִתְפָּרְדוּ, כָּל-עַצְמוֹתָי There's the "atsmotay" (my bones, or, my essence) again...compare with the above...

    Studying the Septuagint (LXX)

This verse in Job is very telling...the KJV version of it is very obscure...basically meaningless. But the LXX version is very powerful. Notice the difference. "So that my soul chooses strangling, and death rather than my life." Job 7:15 KJV Compare that to the LXX version... "You will...

The Atonement: What did it REALLY Accomplish?

You obviously have a very high opinion of yourself and a very low opinion of the words of God. 1 John 2:2 “And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.” 1 Tim. 4:10 “For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we...

How to trigger a mass resurgence in christianity

What we need is for Christians to be triggered back to Christ. We don't need religion....and we don't need to fill the pews with cultural religion. We need actual resurrection life to become the standard for the church as it was in the beginning. We need a return to the ancient paths. And that...

The Atonement: What did it REALLY Accomplish?

I have to point out some inaccuracies here, if you don't mind. 1. Jesus died for the sins of the whole world. So the scope of redemption is beyond the elect. The elect saints are to rule over the nations in the next age. But it is God who justifies. The saved don't know they are saved. There...

    Studying the Septuagint (LXX)

Of further interest here is that Hab. 2:4 as it is in the LXX is cited in Heb. 10:38 but in reverse order. "If he draws back, my life does not find pleasure in it, but the righteous one will live by my faith." Hab. 2:4 LXX "Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul...

    Studying the Septuagint (LXX)

Hello to all on this fine day! :) I'd like to pursue the purpose of this thread with another interesting discrepancy between the LXX and the modern translations that in circulation today. It concerns the very popular Hab. 2:4 which reads... "Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright...

    Studying the Septuagint (LXX)

Another example of the LXX being the source of NT quotes is from Heb. 10:5 "Wherefore when he comes into the world, he says, Sacrifice and offering you would not, but a body have you prepared me.....:" KJV This NT quote is found in Ps. 40:6 which reads... "Sacrifice and offering you did not...

    Studying the Septuagint (LXX)

I would say mostly. But there are divergences based on what the translators believed....so there is a bias. And Hebrew as a language can be very vague (no vowels) and is very difficult to translate meanings from...since there are word-formulas in the text that can be either bad or...

    Studying the Septuagint (LXX)

OK. I'll start with a basic one that is a direct quotation from the LXX that appears in our NT but which has been altered in our modern OT's. The first example is... "And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?" 1 Pet. 4:18 KJV That verse is a quote...

    Studying the Septuagint (LXX)

I don't know why its taken me this long to get to a detailed study of the Septuagint..but that has been my quest so far this year. And it has really paid off! The Septuagint (LXX) is a very important tool for deeper bible study. The LXX WAS the bible of the early church. Many of the references...

    The Sheep and the Goats

Agreed. The sheep goat judgment concerns the Great White Throne judgment of the nations. This is not the judgment of the house of God. If that were the case Jesus would have said...these YOUR brethren...not these MY brethren. So then they are judged by their righteous behaviour (or not) towards...
