Paul was a wolf in sheeps clothing

Yea... umm, barrd. I still disagree. Jesus had a different curriculum. It was first and foremost about him. It was about truth, forgiveness and love. He forgave transgression of the law. In one private convesation he told the rich young man to obey the law, only for the purpose of making...

Paul was a wolf in sheeps clothing

Alright. Look, I'm not putting words in anyone's mouth or accusing anyone of anything. But let's keeps some things in mind: 1. Peter isn't saying Paul is wrong. In fact, just the opposite. 2. Peter is speaking unlearned and unstable people. 3. Its not a "Paul" problem. These folks do...

    Pastor Pay Scale

Alright, I'll bite! For someone who is a real pastor, $74k is too low. There is NOTHING more important than proper worship and proper leadership. If we could bring Peter or Paul back, would we scorn an offering of a million for just one hour? A true minister is worthy of his earnings. The...

Who is the Book of James writen to

Its a forum, Barrd. And though not all of us are in agreeance, we have grown close enough to understand and look past such things. And happy New year, my friend!

    A Study/focus on Acts 21:20-21

As far as I'm concerned, its all good. H. Richard IMO should lighten up a bit, thats all. Others have said they are having a hard time getting through his posts. Theres nothing wrong with asking him to elaborate. If he doesn't want to obligue, fine. If he wants to be sensitive and Moody...

    A Study/focus on Acts 21:20-21

I absolutely agree with you H. Richard. Paul brought something new to the table (though Jesus ortistrated it) and I see Peter and John both supporting it. My point was that you need to loosen up. Not on the TRUTH. But rather on the people on this board. I can put it plainer if you like.

Who is the Book of James writen to

Yea, that does come off as creepy. But Barrd did mention she was burning the midnight oil. One possible explanation is that there is a member that goes by KJV. she may have thought she was talking to him.

Who is the Book of James writen to

Concerning Hebrews 11: No one knows for sure who wrote the book. I see a lot of Paul's tendencies in it, so I tend to attribute it to him. Looking at the 11th chapter I just saw something I haven't seen before. Those champions of faith never set out to do anything to be seen of men. It...

    A Study/focus on Acts 21:20-21

Barrd, Paul did not keep the law, and neither did Peter, nor anyone in history. Jesus himself technically broke the law, yet he gave justication. As one who fully believes in grace and one who tries not to judge folks in the flesh, I do study the law and do my best to live up to it, cause...

    Grace

Are you focusing on the response or the freedom given? See, in that story I see grace as freedom. Being a semi professional historian, I can appreciate this story, and there is much more to it than love and appreciation. There is also fear and ignorance on what to do. Kind of like when Jesus...

    The Immaculate Conception Error!

I wrote a comment to mjrhealth. He posted while I was writing, and his comments did indeed make my post irrelevant. More specifically, in a round about way he admitted he goofed. No shame in that.

Who is the Book of James writen to

I'd like to offer a new point in this discussion. James said in verse 2:18 he would show his faith by his works. This is at odds with what paul said in heb 11:1 amongst other places. But it is undeniably opposite of the practices preached by Jesus in the first part of matthew 6. Jesus said...

    The Immaculate Conception Error!

Paul doesn't disagree with hesus, mjrhealth. The problem here is your belief that the gospel is separate from Jesus; its not. The gospel is the account of Jesus's life and his message, and is the primary source of information about him. Trying to separate them is like saying you like the...

    A Study/focus on Acts 21:20-21

H Richard, I don't think Oz was looking to criticize you at all. I agree with your post, but the structure is a bit unwieldy. The main point is sandwiched between your scriptural evidence. Not wrong, just difficult to sort out. If I understand you correctly, you are saying James and Paul...

    The Immaculate Conception Error!

Romans 1:16 KJV For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek . Paul wouldn't, and he was Jesus's ambassador.

Who is the Book of James writen to

Jesus said "let your light shine" in the same sermon as he said don't give, pray or fast to be seen of men. So, obviously, there is a different point than what it appears to be. But its beyond the scope of this thread.

I have the gospel. It is the power of God! Lot of people don't think its super, but it gives me eternal life! Batman can't do that! :D

Who is the Book of James writen to

You are absolutely right H. Richard! Not popular, but it is truth. I do believe all Christians must do "good works", which pertains to loving God and the brethren (James even mentioned it and called it the royal law). But any works that can be seen of men are works of the flesh and not...
