    "Free" Will

I have a question for those who believe in free will. Do you believe God works discreetly to get you where you are in any aspect of your life? Let me expound on the question for clarity: do you think god sets up road blocks at times to slow you down or detour you? Do you think he clears them...

So than who can be saved

It'd be wrong to criticize anyone's testimony, but I see where mjrhealth is coming from. People can be and are pretty nasty on boards. Even his often quoted, "still struggling to find Christians who believe God" is pretty rude. It seems he is saying no one here believes God. But anyway...

    The Truth of the Untruth

Truth is important. In fact its vital for proper worship. But I see what you are getting at. If you do know the Truth, you certainly aren't going to be arrogant.

ANALYSIS OF MATTHEW 24:12-13 - WHY IT DISPROVES OSAS

First off, I wouldn't even use the term "rapist" in this situation. It simply doesn't fit and in my opinion is rediculous. Second, no... that's not how OSAS characterizes God--with or without the rapist analogy. While I'm not in total line with OSAS, I don't believe that, and I don't know...

ANALYSIS OF MATTHEW 24:12-13 - WHY IT DISPROVES OSAS

A cosmic rapist? Where are you coming up with this stuff? If someone walks away, of course they probably aren't part of thr chosen. They were called but not chosen. John said that those that go out from among weren't of us to begin with. Then again, if they are chosen and predestinated...

ANALYSIS OF MATTHEW 24:12-13 - WHY IT DISPROVES OSAS

Going back to the OP, I am not convinced that these 2 verses refute OSAS much less predestination (which I prefer to acknowledge over OSAS). First off, the iniquity spoken of in matt 24 isn't general sin (which pethaps I mistakingly assume thats what phoneman is speaking of). There were...

    Attitude In The Morning

Good post! I get up 30 minutes early just so I can set my mind at ease. It includes meditation on his Word and prayer. It gives me time to at least give my day a peaceful start. That doesn't always mean it goes the way I plan, but at least I open the door.

Even some of the most obscure passages are threats to OSAS

Obscure passages? What makes them obscure? No matter. Look, I'm more along the lines of predestination as taught in the bible. Warnings don't bother me in that respect. Those that are predestined will overcome, but they have to overcome something. The fact that there is sonething to lose...

5 of the more obvious passages about losing salvation

Wormwood, I really don't understand wherr you are coming from when you say, "God's grace allows us to choose. " Grace comes through faith (eph 2). If you don't have faith, you don't have grace. I don't see the question of choice in that equation. If anything c an be said about it, its that...

5 of the more obvious passages about losing salvation

Well, its pretty obvious that those who aren't covered by grace and are guilty of various SIN LISTS in the NT are going to the lake of fire. Then again, if you keep one point of the law of moses, you are indebted to keep the whole law.

    The Law & The Gospel

Bible never says they were kicked out. They (in Timothy) believed false doctrines and actually led some astray.

5 of the more obvious passages about losing salvation

Zachary, I've heard you mention a few times of "habitual un-repented sins". If you are speaking of the law if God and not the law of Moses, I get your point and agree. But if you are speaking of the law of Moses (eating shrimp, catfish and pork; wearing polyester; growing cucumbers and...

    The Doctrine of OSAS

I think its not only flawed interpretations but also a matter of selecting which scriptures to consider. Its pretty tough for someone in Barrd's position to comment on 1 john 2:19. Furthermore, its easy to dismiss anything Paul says because "he's hard to understand" and besides he's a jewish...

Is your pastor deceiving you, or is he just ignorant?

No, thats not was the doctrine teaches. Please read more than the first paragraph of the wikipedia article.

    The Doctrine of OSAS

The arguements should not be based on the reputation of the author, but on the substance behind the arguement. Are you refusing to discuss the opinion based on the source or.... well, there's nothing else to refuse! Justaname could've taken that whole quote and put it in his own words...

    The Doctrine of OSAS

Barrd, someone posyed a quote from horton, which is pertinent to the discussion and discusses bible teaching. Your response seems to dismiss it and even make fun of the man's name. It simply looks to me as an evasive move. "It isn't in the bible, so I'm going to ignore it and even laugh at...
