Reflecting on this story, I don't think God or the Spirit killed them overtly. I think the shock of self revelation did, like a heart attack. One can live in denial with oneself and foster quiet a comfy place. Others may see you are in denial even hypocritical but it is water off a ducks back...

I think the seductiveness of religion or being religious has to do with hiding. It justifies the lack of and or does not question anything to do with self honesty. It puts in its place an image and language that mimics piety.

You appear to say the right words Behold.....yet in saying them, you miss the point To reiterate, the point of the text is The Man. Miss The Man and you can thrash around in the text till you look like the printed page and the first resurrection will pass you by.
