So it tells you to count it, then it tells you what the count is (duhhh to the literalist) further, it applies it to three factors, the beast, the name, the man. Surely this must tell you that the text is communicating more than what is interpreted as overtly obvious.

there are better ways to interpret prophetic numbers, particularly in Hebrew culture, than literal. With a direct literal interpretation one has no idea what one is missing and how far off the mark one is.

If we are looking for 'a name' for God we will miss it. 'Name' when it come to scripture mean character......subsequently when God passed by Moses he declared his Name. Everything else just results in lots of meaningless yada yada
