Poll: Does the mainstreaming of tattoos open up increasing opportunities for faith ink witness?

PS: @Angelina I'm sure you wouldn't disagree to the above, would you?

Why aren't you struggling with this question

@Angelina Paul speaks of 'the obedience of faith' & 'obedience to the faith' in Romans, at the end and at the beginning. Salvation is truly 'not of works, lest any man should boast' (Ephesians 2.9); faith is indeed the key principle.

Are You Free From The Law?

The law was changed (Hebrews 7.12). What we now have is better than the law (Hebrews 7.19).

Great allusion to Ephesians 2 there.

Poll: Does the mainstreaming of tattoos open up increasing opportunities for faith ink witness?

@Angelina Back a bit you said: I think it's best just to be matter-of-fact about it; whether one has tattoos oneself or doesn't; whether someone else has them or doesn't; it seem common sense just be matter-of-fact about it, really, one way or the other.

    @Angelina Good questions, there...

Why aren't you struggling with this question

The Lord Jesus said: 'Sanctify them through Thy truth: Thy word is truth' (John 17.17).

Poll: "ear piercings are fully accepted for both genders"

Great Scripture verses these; but it is still in my humble view mindless legalism to suggest that James 2.2 supposedly bans the wearing of wedding rings, and supposedly demands of preachers that they publicly repudiate their wives' wedding ring gifts.

Poll: Does the mainstreaming of tattoos open up increasing opportunities for faith ink witness?

@Nancy I think we share a lack of heat on the subject! :) (Not everyone does, though...) "Pretty much every one I know, and that includes Christians and myself, have a tattoo so..." Well, exactly...and I don't necessarily have a problem with the idea of artistically-inclined Christians working...

Poll: "ear piercings are fully accepted for both genders"

@Renniks Studding one's earlobes on the part of either gender - whether through peer pressure or personal initiative - may be the work of a moment in town on a busy Saturday; and - like you said - bears scant relation to one's long term spiritual and eternal state.

Poll: Does the mainstreaming of tattoos open up increasing opportunities for faith ink witness?

@Nancy Christians need to understand that it's frankly almost inevitable that some Christians will have gotten inked at some stage or other of their lives and that it's therefore not particularly unusual; if they would only admit this, it would take some of the heat out of discussions.

The Mark of the Beast (what it really is explained)

@Renniks Too much unnecessary speculation in any case discredits - in the eyes of others - people's trust in the promises of Scripture, especially when the speculated events do not happen at the time predicted with over-confidence.

Poll: "ear piercings are fully accepted for both genders"

It would be sobering for the legalists to reflect - in that connection - that they would be really behaving like strange women in a bar (if 'sober' is really the word for those who are 'drunk' on legalism and eisegesis - reading into Scripture things that are not there).
  17. F

Poll: "ear piercings are fully accepted for both genders"

I would personally take the line — in keeping with the spirit of Romans 14 — that publicly repudiating my wife's gift of a wedding ring in order to appease such mindless legalism would itself be a gross act of stumbling and misleading young and weak believers.

Poll: "ear piercings are fully accepted for both genders"

I agree it's marginal and bizarre. But the dogged vehemence with which some ppl pursue it is frankly ghastly. I have even heard of invited preachers arriving to preach and being told by hosts that they can't preach as invited unless they removed their wedding rings. (I would be inclined to turn...

Some husbands and wives cut each other's... (If a wife insists on long , flowing locks, she might more likely resist a husband's willingness to cut hers.)
