Amos 3.3, a thoughtful verse: "Can two walk together, except they be agreed?"

I sense that on important doctrine we won't agree.

    Coffee Shop (let's chat)

It's what you might get as a basic cup of coffee in France if you don't specify a capucino, etc.

    Coffee Shop (let's chat)

Seattle's Best is another brand that came from the West Coast. It's in Canada also.

    Who managed to quit smoking?

By both genders it would be done calmly and un-self-consciously in homes and offices, though. There wasn't that same taboo that there seems to be now.

Amos 3.3, a thoughtful verse: "Can two walk together, except they be agreed?"

1 Corinthians 11.16: 'in remembrance of me'. The Lord's Supper is a remembrance. Clearly we don't agree on this; so it's likely to be futile going round and round on it.

    Coffee Shop (let's chat)

In France an expresso can almost seem like an egg cup size of thick, gluey coffee... :)

    Coffee Shop (let's chat)

You guys have not only Starbucks from the West Coast, but also Seattle's Best, right? :)

Ear piercing: for sons as well as for daughters: is it appropriate? (plus poll)

Seems like - subjectively speaking - some men can indeed pull it off, right?

    Who managed to quit smoking?

Well, good for you; maybe it's all for the best that it doesn't bother you.

    Who managed to quit smoking?

It wasn't unusual in those days; and was regarded as pretty normal, wasn't it?

    Who managed to quit smoking?

Seems like your friend then - however old she was - did indeed learn how to do it (and she probably had a harder time quitting, if she even tried).

Amos 3.3, a thoughtful verse: "Can two walk together, except they be agreed?"

It's faith in the Lord Jesus Who 'by Himself purged our sins' (Hebrews 1) that truly saves, not by taking the symbols, albeit that He instituted.

    That I might attain

I do see Israel and the church as distinct in Scripture...

Amos 3.3, a thoughtful verse: "Can two walk together, except they be agreed?"

I do see the emblems in the Lord's Supper as representational, symbolic.

@GodsGrace: Yes they do; agreed. If you've followed the recent posts, do you also think for young men - one done each side, maybe - can look good? (It's very widespread, anyway.)

    Your favorite Psalm?

I like in mind to link looking to the Lord more than watch waiting for the morning, with 1 Cor. 11.26: 'Till He come'. (Not that the church is in view in Psalm 130.)

    Who managed to quit smoking?

Well, at 11 it would take a while to learn to inhale properly! (Was your friend that said that about 11 also...?))

Putting on of the new self

Amen; exactly; it's a taking up of one's cross daily; as the Lord indeed enables.
