    KJV versus Modern Translations

Such comparisons between the different King James versions can be very interesting, especially given some of the strong statements that are sometimes made about the KJV (which I love and use).

    KJV versus Modern Translations

Style is certain part of it! (Interestingly, some of characteristics of the KJ21 lie in the difference in format and font, rather than in huge changes in wording.)

    Living Faith

I do love Romans; so searching.

    Famous quote from Habakkuk

Sorry; which Scripture reference are you exactly referring to? (Part of the reason I ask is that in systematic theology it's often customary to borrow verses that seem to add to a particular viewpoint, but without the exact context being taken account of. I'm not suggesting you are doing this.)

    Israel is the Church

I do indeed wonder at the theology that seems to hold that all the blessings are for the church and all the curses are for the Jews... o_O

Ear piercing: for sons as well as for daughters: is it appropriate? (plus poll)

So were you surprised maybe when you first saw he had gauges?

    Famous quote from Habakkuk

Thank-you for your comment. I think part of it is that the church is a revealed mystery, as Ephesians is emphatic about. Both the words 'revealed' and 'mystery' are rather searching and informed, in dispensational terms.

Looks like an interesting search tool...

    Famous quote from Habakkuk

It's remarkable how unfamiliar passages in the Minor Prophets can suddenly show a highly familiar quote! :)

Poll - Tattooing: from male military and biker ethos...to viable witness means for both genders?

Thanks for your comment! For many young men it's likely that the earring(s) precedes the tattoo. I guess to some extent it's a matter of family custom. Some mothers seem to think that for a son who is maybe a bit shy ear studs will (supposedly?) help his confidence. (I don't know.)

I do like your Lion quote! :)

Poll - Tattooing: from male military and biker ethos...to viable witness means for both genders?

Tattoo artists are not supposed to ink people who have been drinking... o_O

    KJV versus Modern Translations

Sorry, I meant 1629. The mainly spelling of the original 1611 is completely different. I guess a photo search engine with 'original 1611' might show a page.

    Famous quote from Habakkuk

@Waiting on him PS: I think your question about Israel and the church does revolve to some extent about the Bride of Christ /Wife of Jehovah definitions.

Ear piercing: for sons as well as for daughters: is it appropriate? (plus poll)

    @Preacher4Truth FYI: thread and poll...

    KJV versus Modern Translations

The 1611 was revised in 169, then in 1638, then in 1762, then in 1769; what people sometimes refer to as the 1611 used today is actually the 1769 edition.

    Famous quote from Habakkuk

FYI: The Wife of Jehovah and the Bride of Messiah

Ear piercing: for sons as well as for daughters: is it appropriate? (plus poll)

So do you have any male friends or family with pierced ears? it's very widespread, anyway. (Indeed, the whole bondservant verbal imagery with the pierced ear is very Scriptural...though hardly a 'requirement' today.)

    Famous quote from Habakkuk

It's part of the first principles of a dispensational understanding of Scripture.

    Famous quote from Habakkuk

You mean, you're less sure about Pentecost? or what...
