I make my not so long awaited head coaching debut today. Last week I volunteered to coach a Kindergarten basketball team in a league for beginners. (The team was desperate to find a coach and a day or so away from having to drop out if they couldn’t find someone willing to do it.)

Personally, I want everyone everywhere to read the Bible regularly and I spend a great deal of my time here promoting and encouraging it.

We can know that it is or it isn’t by comparing with what is recorded in the Bible.

That’s a shocking statement. Were I to hear it said from the pulpit, I would leave. A preacher who would say that is a charlatan. Yes, but it’s not ”our heart vs. the Bible”. They must fo together.

They are recorded, preserved for us, in the Bible.

The Bible represents the heart of God. Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. The wise will compare what is spoken with what is written in the Bible.

The words that Jesus spoke are spirit and life (John 6:63).

If we don’t know what Jesus said in scripture then we won’t be able to faithfully represent him.

Every follower of Jesus should be like the Bereans.

Anyone who doesn’t know what is written in the scriptures is susceptible to deception.
