BORN AGAIN, A CHANGE IN BODY NOT IN MIND

Shorten this before I'll read it. What is the main point you are saying that goes along with your title.

What does it mean to be born again?

I take all scripture in context as you know I do. None of us can make ourselves righteous without God being in us, so we cannot purify ourselves without already being pure. All we can do is not quench the Spirit, and remain pure.

What does it mean to be born again?

Sorry, I thought by this that "you would do the "other" meaning "opposite. LOL I see what you mean now. I believe as I already said. We will do according to our new re-born nature and keep pure.

    New But Not Improved

There ARE false doctrines in some denominations that do claim what you left the mind to interpret; that obedience is a "work" and is not grace; that grace covers all sin. That is why I asked you to watch what you say.

What does it mean to be born again?

Right, but the just will live up the the level of faith He has been given by God. We proceed from faith to faith. That is growing in the Spirit. It is not proud to do right.

What does it mean to be born again?

Doing the opposite is not axiomatic. LOL You were right with just axiomatic, but not doing the other I think purifying yourself once you're already cleansed of all unrighteousness would be doing what would then be natural. And same for keeping ourselves. It would be automatic as part of our own...

What does it mean to be born again?

There is one thing we can do to NOT "keep" ourselves, and that is to quench the Spirit. So how do we keep ourselves? 1 John 5:18 How do we purify ourselves? 1 John 3:3

What does it mean to be born again?

The question is who is responsible for the purifying? To sin would be to muddy ourselves, right? Jesus does the purifying, but we obey; that is our responsibility, right? Behold would say to obey is works. Do you? I don't.

What does it mean to be born again?

without our will? Are you saying it is automatic?

BORN AGAIN, A CHANGE IN BODY NOT IN MIND

Strange title. Totally inaccurate. Jesus lived his entire life as our example of a born again Christian. How? He was conceived with the seed of the Father. So are we when we are born again. Our sin nature called the old man died with Christ. Romans 6. We are a new creation. Galatians 6. 1...

What does it mean to be born again?

I know that Christ is the Author and Finisher of our Faith, but I agree with E, that we do hold some responsibility. What does keeps mean in this verse. 1 John 5:18 18 We know that whoever is born of God does not sin; but he who has been born of God keeps himself, and the wicked one does not...

    New But Not Improved

Then why misrepresent sin by saying, "We still sin, but are forgiven for all!" All means ALL! You didn't say just "unintentional." Don't you know how reckless a statement that is to baby Christians? You need to be more careful. If you cause one of His babies to fall, Jesus says a millstone...

    New But Not Improved

Are you saying if I murder and do not repent I am automatically forgiven just because I believe in Jesus? That sounds like "SIN because grace abounds all the more." Paul says to that, "God forbid!" Why commit murder when you don't have to. We are dead to sin. He also said, 16 Do you not know...

    New But Not Improved

Let me show you what I have just discovered about the gospel and see if you want to say that "God does nothing to change our mind" and that we still have a "carnal" mind. "Jesus is the Author and Finisher of our FAITH." First off, it is God who draws us to Christ. Second, when we repent we...

    New But Not Improved

What I have found because of knowing about the two different types of sins, is what Jesus first takes away in 1 John 3:5 is the previous verse, "sin is lawlessness" (4). Those are the moral laws of God found in the Ten Commandments. I was an adulteress, and the next day after being filled with...

    New But Not Improved

I hadn't thought of that. You are right! That makes it doubly heinous for him to willfully sin when he had the power not to.

    New But Not Improved

We have the Spirit of Christ in us. Adam didn't. Romans 8:9
  18. 1stCenturyLady

    New But Not Improved

Right. Why would you? When Adam was first created he had a pure human nature. That nature was corrupted when he sinned, and became like Satan. Man inherited that nature and could never be righteous on his own. That is the reason Jesus came; to take away that corrupted nature and make us a new...

    New But Not Improved

Even though our nature is free from sin, we still have free will. When Adam was first created, he was free from sin until he sinned. This is why Paul commanded "do not quench the Spirit." But what we have that Adam didn't have was the power of the Holy Spirit. What we can agree on I hope is...
