    New But Not Improved

Jesus takes away our sin, so that it is no longer "dwelling in me." That was talking about the Jews who have the Law in their mind, but sin in their flesh, because it only departs through Christ.

    New But Not Improved

To not be confused that our body is not the flesh Paul is speaking about, he includes the next verse to clear up any confusion, yet it doesn't seem to stop confusing people. LOL 9 But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not...

    New But Not Improved

When Paul uses the word, "flesh" he is not talking about our body. He is talking about our nature. Our nature, the spirit and soul, is what is reborn now to be like the divine nature of God, 2 Peter 1:4. That was the old man that died. Our body must yet die physically, in order to be reborn...

    New But Not Improved

Romans 8:2 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death. Verse 25 is the culmination of 7:14-23 (it still has the "flesh") Romans 8:9 we are NOT IN THE FLESH

What are you talking about? I don't have any desire to sin. I actually felt my old man of sin leave my body back in 1977. I felt light as a feather. That is what the Spirit does when you are filled with the Holy Spirit. We are no longer IN THE FLESH.

    New But Not Improved

I'm not sure which verses you are referring to. Look at Romans 7:5. 5 For when we were in the flesh, the sinful passions which were aroused by the law were at work in our members to bear fruit to death. That is referring to the 'past.' Romans 8 is now. But Paul was referring back to the past...

Right. An unsaved sinner has no new "inner man" like a Christian does.

    New But Not Improved

The words written are still valid for someone under the law. Who is under the Law? Why was it given to us? It was given to us when we were still sinners. And it is still for unsaved sinners. And the Law is still holy. Personally, I am free from the law, and I don't relate to Romans 7:14-25...

    New But Not Improved

It is confusing because Paul is writing in first person, just as John wrote in first person in 1 John 1. But that is a writing style. You must read in CONTEXT. Romans 8:2 shows that Paul is FREED from Romans 7:14-25. How do you explain that? Netchaplian, you too - how do you explain that the...

    New But Not Improved

We are going around in circles. The old man is dead! We are new creations! Galatians 6:15 Romans 6-7 6 knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin. 7 For he who has died has been freed from sin...

    New But Not Improved

I will disagree that we cannot be improved, because though Jesus makes us sinless at each new level of obedience, there are future levels to come towards perfection in the end when the Spirit is Finished during our lifetime. Do you recognize these levels of obedience, and sinlessness? It was...

    New But Not Improved

Oh, okay. Yes he was. But he was writing about when we were in the flesh (verse 5) (in the past) and only had the Law to go by. We are no longer under the law, because we have the Spirit and NOT in the flesh, Romans 8:2 and 9. In Romans 7:14-25 Paul is emphasizing that the Law is holy, but for...

    New But Not Improved

It says that the law is holy. It is all there in the context. Just empty your mind of all previous doctrines of man. Read it a few times. Romans 7:5 to Romans 8:9. Don't forget that Romans 8 frees us from Romans 7:14-25. Verse 25 is still a Jew who knows the law in his mind, but couldn't...

How do we deal with it?

No, it is really up to us to "Repent...and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit." Acts 2:38-39. We are not robots. God wants us to love Him with all our heart, that we cannot do until after we receive His Spirit."

How do we deal with it?

It appears you were going through levels of obedience, but your boredom was a God ordained wilderness experience in which you didn't pass the test and instead grieved the Spirit. But seeing as you seem to be still trying, make sure that you are filled with the Holy Spirit and not just...

How do we deal with it?

Yes, that is what "keep themselves" means in 1 John 5:18 18 We know that whoever is born of God does not sin; but he who has been born of God keeps himself, and the wicked one does not touch him.

    New But Not Improved

What? Do you really entertain the thought that when Paul wrote Romans he was not a Christian? You are a chaplain. You have more responsibility than most to read in context. Jesus frees us from sin. Do you believe that or not? The person in Romans 7:14-25 is NOT free from sin until he receives...

    New But Not Improved

That is why I am on these forums for years. I AM AFRAID FOR THE CHURCH. IT APPEARS WE ARE IN THE "FALLING AWAY."

    Seeing into the Spirit realm.

I understand. That is why I questioned God first, and told Him if this was from Him to give it to me. If not, protect me from it, and let me know what was happening in that church. It was from God. For the last 46 years, since becoming filled with the Spirit of God, I've been able to hear...

How do we deal with it?

We all have to work out our own salvation. That means studying the Bible and testing ourselves if we are really born again of the Spirit - a MUST! The key to salvation after coming to know about Jesus is based on our initial repentance. It cannot just be to go to heaven, but to recognize we are...
