Great point. Faith is an action word. and Believe is an action word. To believe is to obey in the Koine Greek language. To obey is to take action. And Jesus said we are to ACT on His words. Matthew 7:24 and Matthew 7:26 The wise man ACTS on Jesus' words. The foolish man does NOT ACT on Jesus'...

How did the Trinity doctrine develop in the early church?

Hmmmm. I also can't remember.... @rebuilder 454 might be thinking of Colossians 1:18-19 Maybe. We shall soon see.

If we are saved by what we have done... then THIS is the cause of our salvation. Romans 2:5-6 Paul 5 But because of your stubbornness and unrepentant heart you are storing up wrath for yourself in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God, 6 who WILL RENDER TO EACH...

How does the resurrection of the righteous and the wicked on the last day work with Premillennialism?

The great tribulation has not occured. I believe it will one day. I also believe there will be one resurrection and not two. I also believe there will be no rapture. And Jesus is coming back one time...not two - at the end. I find it disconcerting that we Christians do not agree, we should...

How did the Trinity doctrine develop in the early church?

Exactly! Great point. If Jesus created everything, then He is outside of time. If He is outside of time,,,then by definition, He is God. Only God is outside of time. The watchmaker is not PART of the watch.

How does the resurrection of the righteous and the wicked on the last day work with Premillennialism?

Writer... @Scott Downey has given you a lot of scripture. You just desire to believe what you've been taught instead of what the word says. When we stop believing what Jesus teaches,,,Christianity will be in trouble. Exchanging the tradition of men the word of God. One last day, One...

Hi Dan... No one ever said works are the origin of faith/salvation. But I just want to say that I believe @SheriE is agreeing that works are a necessary part of our salvation. But until she clarifies, we won't know for sure. Have a good day!

WHAT IS MEANT IN HEBREWS SAYING THERE IS NO MORE SACRIFICE FOR SINS?

Agreed on all. As to being sorry for Peter, your words remind me of Hebrews 6:4-6 4 For in the case of those who have once been enlightened and have tasted of the heavenly gift and have been made partakers of the Holy Spirit, 5 and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to...

WHAT IS MEANT IN HEBREWS SAYING THERE IS NO MORE SACRIFICE FOR SINS?

Complete, I'm of the idea that the translators know how to translate better than we do. Some use Strong's as if concentrating on a word equates to knowing the language...this is not true. At times Strong's will even give several meanings and what do some do? They pick the one that most suits...

    Faith alone

Not a difficult concept to understand... Works are VOLUNARY. They are our choice to make. We can either do good works or not do good works. Since good works are necessary if we wish to obey God... then they become necessary for our final salvation. Initial salvation is by faith alone. No...

I don't believe the writers of the NT spoke tongue in cheek. I believe they made important statements to which we should adhere.

Interesting that @Papa Smurf is giving you a LIKE when you're posting positively about doing good works for salvation. Abraham did good works from the moment God called him to leave his home. He left his home. Abraham obeyed. Rahab did the good work of protecting the Israelite spies. Your...

Here is what I understand: IF you are correct and God is doing all the work in us... then when we sin either of the following will necessarily be correct: 1. God was unable to keep us from sinning. 2. God causes sin, thus making God a sinner and the cause of evil. When God is CAUSING our...

I don't care for analogies. I believe what the bible states. The bible states that God DESIRES ALL MEN to be saved. 1 Timothy 2:3-4 3 This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, 4 who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. Since all men are NOT...

    Understanding Genesis 18:1-22:24

You sure do write a lot Ben Abraham! I just would like to mention that no one has ever seen God...I understand this to mean God Father. I'd say that it was Jesus that appeared in the OT. What do you think of : Hebrews 11:25-26 25 choosing rather to endure ill-treatment with the people of God...

marks, IF you don't know what the sign of the New Covenant is,,, and IN REALATION to why I believe dispensatinalism is incorrect.... and You're not even willing to look it up.... Then I'd say that I am NOT assuming anything... which I usually do not.

WHAT IS MEANT IN HEBREWS SAYING THERE IS NO MORE SACRIFICE FOR SINS?

ANY teaching that was not taught in the early church... will not be orthodox Christian teaching and will most probably be heretical. (the true meaning of heretical).
