How bizarre. I'm sticking with the mystic-free version of supernatural reality (whatever that means--lol). :)

Why would dead folks need to appear in court?

I'm pretty sure that only resurrected dead can do any standing. :) How can dead people hear?

He allows the rain and sun to fall on the just and the unjust in this life. They have to be resurrected in order to suffer their deserved punishment which will end their life (eternally). :)

Probably for the same reason that many English words have more than one meaning. :)

The lost will suffer commensurately with the exact measure of their contribution to the rebellion against God before their life finally ends.

When a light goeth out, there is no separation. It simply stops working. :)

In physical death, our body is separated from our breath. Genesis 2:7 Parallel: And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

Technically, we are all separated from God in some manner until the Parousia.

Just off the top of my head, I know of three different kinds of death: Complete cessation of physical life (given that there is no chance of resurrection after the second death) Death in trespasses and sins Death to sin Of course there could be more that I've forgotten or have yet to discover. :)

Trust me; you're more than smart enough and you don't have to depend on intelligence, anyway. You may pray for the Holy Spirit and confidently expect Him to lead you into all truth. We (including myself, of course) need to take the promises in the Bible more seriously than we do, as though He...

    But isn't this slightly Forum(church?)-bashy? :)

    Church Bashing

Yeah, the problem is "we" don't define death. Each of us define it for ourselves. The result is pluralism or Babylon (confusion). Some say the Bible defines death as cessation of life, others believe it is some sort of mystical process. No consensus. Meanwhile, new Christians and non-believers...

Have we really arrived at an agreement on the definition of "church-bashing?" How can we know what it is based on if we're not even sure what it is?

Well, if by "thoughts of others" you mean Scripture, then OK, I guess. Acts 17:10 Parallel: And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea: who coming thither went into the synagogue of the Jews. Acts 17:11 Parallel: These were more noble than those in Thessalonica...

Christ is doctrine. He is the Word made flesh, and the Scriptures are they that testify of Him. We are to live by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God, are we not? This "doctrinal purity" thing seems a bit like a red herring. Just sayin'. :)
