How are we to reckon ourselves as being dead to sin?

No unfortunately you are just plain wrong.....communion isn't only for the "perfect" but for all of us.

How are we to reckon ourselves as being dead to sin?

It's just a manner of speaking. When "WE" eat His body and drink His blood....we are partaking of His sacrifice/altar. And "WE" are doing this of our own free will. As the scripture says: For we being many are one bread, and one body: for we are all partakers of that one bread. Behold Israel...

    Heart Talks on Holiness

Yes we are to always have the humility of mind not to think of ourselves as having "arrived"...this is why I was likening it to another beginning....not the end of the journey. Still very much pilgrims and soldiers fighting the war, but another 'aspect' of it maybe we could say..? or fighting...

How are we to reckon ourselves as being dead to sin?

Amen. The Lord was gracious to help me better understand communion one day and why self examination is a vital part of the Lord's supper. Notice that the Israelites would eat what was sacrificed to the Lord in the temple in order for the sacrifice to be applied to them, for sins: 1Co...

How are we to reckon ourselves as being dead to sin?

Exactly....we need to understand it is not a matter of carnal food and drink (common) like having lunch, but is a holy thing ordained of the Lord.......yes discerning His body....as we are remembering His death until He comes, we are to understand this is not ordinary bread and wine to ingest...

How are we to reckon ourselves as being dead to sin?

Peace to you sister, I'm not suggesting that you are, only that that is what that passage is talking about. It is warning essentially that those who do treat the Lord's supper as common, ie, just as ordinary food and drink for satiation of the flesh rather than as something holy and ordained of...

That sounds so lovely brother. :) May the Lord grant sufficient rain. Maybe my analogy wasn't that great. Maybe the point really is that our fruit needs to ripen....the bible talks about bringing our fruit to perfection. And could we agree that seeds and little saplings aren't very...

    Heart Talks on Holiness

If we look closely at the Hebrew slave in Exodus 2.....see how it is just like a marriage....first they had to go before a judge to formalize the arrangement, with both freely consenting, the slave freely offering himself to the Master (living sacrifice) then it was "consummated" at the...

How are we to reckon ourselves as being dead to sin?

Amen brother. My testimony is much the same.......out of the blue He drew me, then one minute I didn't believe but the next minute I just did and knew at the time that it was not of my own, but it was a work of God! Even being able to discern that, was from Him, not of my own! Praise the...

How are we to reckon ourselves as being dead to sin?

ok, yes I see the allegories. But what happens to the warning about treating what is holy as a common thing, ie, treating the Lord's supper as if it were just another meal to satiate physical hunger or gluttony, when it is so much more than that. If we treat the Lord's supper as common (as...

How are we to reckon ourselves as being dead to sin?

James 1:3 knowing that proving of your faith worketh patience. Yes, it's ours but only because He gave/is giving it to us, by His Spirit.

    Heart Talks on Holiness

Well that's the thing, I'm not sure. We are taking land little by little now in a way, fighting our own battle with the flesh....maybe after overcoming the flesh it will be much more about fighting the Lord's battles, little by little, and no longer our own?

How are we to reckon ourselves as being dead to sin?

No brother.....why is our faith being tested and tried - PROVEN..? The proving of our faith. To prove or show that it is the kind that can stand/endure the test of fire. The only kind that can stand that is certainly not of the flesh. It has to be of God, of His Spirit.

How are we to reckon ourselves as being dead to sin?

Who here is glorying and boasting in ourselves as if we didn't receive it? We are only testifying (with gratitude) that we did receive it. The accusations are never ending.

How are we to reckon ourselves as being dead to sin?

Not talking to lost souls here, only to the body of Christ, so why are you judging folks here as though they are condemning and threatening lost souls? But even so, the bible says to save some by fear and others save with compassion. Anyone evangelizing should be led by the Lord.

    Heart Talks on Holiness

These things happened unto them for ensamples to the church....allegories, lessons to learn from, and a pattern that we follow. The Jordan River crossing had to have been very significant.....it was at flood stage and the Lord stopped it all the way back to a town called Adam. Flood stage...

How are we to reckon ourselves as being dead to sin?

Honestly brother, I sometimes wonder if you Texans consider it a virtuous thing to butcher the English language on purpose, lol! :) Wouldn't have anything to do with the Revolution now would it? (Just joshing with you. and I'm not a fan of the monarchy, in case you're wondering.)

    Heart Talks on Holiness

How about the two distinct baptisms of the children of israel....first the Red Sea, then the Jordan River? I have been looking all along to try and see what is concurrent or not....there is a "little by little" mentioned.....but my mind is getting tired, so need to give this a rest for now. :)...

    Heart Talks on Holiness

Not that I can say this by experience (yet, hopefully) but I think I would say that once we have fully matured, we WILL at that point enter the wedding feast and be married to the Bridegroom. For that is what it means to be matured in Christ....we are no more children, but have become His...

    Heart Talks on Holiness

Yes, there are many blessings along the way, but this is particularly talking about maturing up, the fulfilling of our faith as far as it can be in this life. That is what I see in Exodus 21:2-6 about the indentured Hebrew slave being set free in the seventh year. We follow a pattern in our...
