How are we to reckon ourselves as being dead to sin?

Ha-ha, funny. :) But does this mean you aren't denying the first level of faith then, and are no longer trying to build a second storey without the first storey? The first level of faith, as you are calling it, IS OF GOD too, not of our own. I believe we follow the same pattern as the...

How are we to reckon ourselves as being dead to sin?

Amen, wonderful dream.....it's not by our own self effort and strength....we can do nothing without Him. The scripture that says we must first bind the strong man before we can plunder his house. On a personal level i believe it is talking about the strong man within us.

How are we to reckon ourselves as being dead to sin?

No we don't read it explicitly. But it is a picture/type/shadow of the new covenant. "They (old testament saints) without us (new covenant saints) would not be made perfect." But God choosing Abraham certainly had to have made a difference. If the Lord hadn't spoken to Abraham and called...

How are we to reckon ourselves as being dead to sin?

All i can think of is where it says, "It's not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, sayeth the Lord." Everything is by His Spirit, not of our own. Faith to believe is concurrent with His Spirit entering our hearts because faith is from and through HIS Spirit, not from us. Being dead in...

    Heart Talks on Holiness

But are these credible believers....are they mature or carnal.....and discern what kind of fruit is showing in their life from their 'experience', or is there any fruit at all? I doubt there is any fruit to be had from barking like a dog, and worse if they are seeking "manifestations" rather...

How are we to reckon ourselves as being dead to sin?

Remember Abraham was chosen and called out of his land and people , by God. That is parallel to how we are called out of the world into faith and kingdom of God. At that point Abraham began to have a living relationship with the Lord, like believers began to be able to, after Jesus died on the...

How are we to reckon ourselves as being dead to sin?

Scripture says "What do we have that we didn't receive."

How are we to reckon ourselves as being dead to sin?

Shalom and blessing to you brother. If you only knew how I struggle to understand things myself, you might look for help elsewhere, lol. :) You are kind to think of me and of course I will do my best as the Lord leads and gives His light, and as we all help and edify each other. And please...

    Heart Talks on Holiness

I agree that they don't......but they need to be tested by scripture and discerned to make sure they don't go against God's character or word. And see what kind of fruit comes from it too. But keep in mind also, that a person may not always necessarily understand their experiences fully...

How are we to reckon ourselves as being dead to sin?

This is one of those paradoxes in scripture. He gave us the gift of faith to believe. We did not choose Him but He chose us. ( And I somehow even discerned at the time that is what happened to me, because it was inexplicable.) Yet at the same time the Lord holds accountable those who don't...

How are we to reckon ourselves as being dead to sin?

We received the spirit of adoption when we first came to faith in Him (with a faith not of our own that no one may boast - that faith was a free gift). His Spirit that we received at that point IS that spirit (of adoption).

How are we to reckon ourselves as being dead to sin?

I guess you missed the point and have started down another trail of thought.

How are we to reckon ourselves as being dead to sin?

Sister it is certainly free in the beginning...the bible explicitly SAYS so....a FREE gift. A newborn didn't have to pay any price to be born. But then we begin to count the cost of following Him. We start to grow as children grow and eventually grow up....we begin learning lessons and...

Hi Randall, bless you! Seems at every step along the way the devil is going to present us with a counterfeit. just like the serpent in the Garden.

How are we to reckon ourselves as being dead to sin?

Faith is much more than theoretical. Faith is the SUBSTANCE of things NOT SEEN and the EVIDENCE of things HOPED FOR. The things written for example, by Paul in Romans about imputation etc, are all TRUE from the beginning of our faith, but it begins in seed form we might say, in all of us who...

How are we to reckon ourselves as being dead to sin?

Amen, no guile, meaning no pretense, but only honesty with ourselves and with God. Learning of a truth that "in me is no good thing." If we judge ourselves we will not be judged with the world. That is why the sinner who acknowledged his sinfulness was went away justified before God, but the...

    Heart Talks on Holiness

Well, amen to the bible. Speaking of which, look into the concept of bondslaves in scripture. I believe it speaks to the topic of this thread. :)

How are we to reckon ourselves as being dead to sin?

As in everyone brother, if we're self aware and honest enough. It resides in the flesh and all flesh is the same. I see pride as going way back and way down in the roots of our fall....we all follow the same pattern as Adam and Eve. They sinned, which caused them to know they were...

How are we to reckon ourselves as being dead to sin?

Course you fit in. Though it's certainly understandable how you feel. Just that His Body is not always even found in churches, especially these days.....it seems as though the glory has departed a lot of places. Remember how the prophets and old testament saints were often wanderers...? And...
