Did people receive the Holy Spirit and speak in tongues? Or did they speak in tongues ....?

1 Corinthians 14:2 For he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God, for no one understands him; however, in the spirit he speaks mysteries. What you learned is from a non-scriptural, human reasoning trying to understand a supernatural ability. This verse is clear that we speak to...

Did people receive the Holy Spirit and speak in tongues? Or did they speak in tongues ....?

Yes, scripture is like manual on being saved, but also about the gifts of the Spirit. Does a manual about how to operate a car become obsolete once you buy a car? Your belief about tongues being the means of receiving scripture, is just wrong. Do you pray? Or is praying obsolete now that we have...

Did people receive the Holy Spirit and speak in tongues? Or did they speak in tongues ....?

Personally, I don't believe in some secret rapture, seven or three and a half years BEFORE Christ returns with the souls who have previously departed to return to their bodies and be resurrected. Only then shall those who are still alive and remain will be caught up. I do believe though, that...

Did people receive the Holy Spirit and speak in tongues? Or did they speak in tongues ....?

I don't know anything about the mockery you are talking about, nor dispensationalism, unless you are talking about these that could be considered dispensations: In the Garden After the Garden and before the flood - vegetarian - sacrifices After the flood - all meats approved - sacrifices Mosaic...

Did people receive the Holy Spirit and speak in tongues? Or did they speak in tongues ....?

I know a non-Charismatic woman who killed her baby because of the fear of the Great Tribulation where Sunday keepers would persecute and kill Sabbath keepers. She didn't want her baby to have to face that death. There are always stories, but what is true is the Word of God and our covenants...

Did people receive the Holy Spirit and speak in tongues? Or did they speak in tongues ....?

The Charismatics I've seen are the happiest people I know. Instead of lukewarm, they are on fire!

Did people receive the Holy Spirit and speak in tongues? Or did they speak in tongues ....?

I agree, but there is more than prophecy. 1 Corinthians 14: 5 I wish you all spoke with tongues, but even more that you prophesied; a]">[a]for he who prophesies is greater than he who speaks with tongues, unless indeed he interprets, that the church may receive edification. 6 But now...

Did people receive the Holy Spirit and speak in tongues? Or did they speak in tongues ....?

Prophecy, yes. Tongues, no. But, neither ceased completely. Just as there isn't a constant rain during dry spells, the gifts were in the early, and now latter rain.

So you are saying if you believe that part of our New Covenant is not for you, you are following lies and make the word of God of non effect? Interesting you should say that person is following the devil.

Did people receive the Holy Spirit and speak in tongues? Or did they speak in tongues ....?

I disagree, totally. The gifts, all of them, were part of our New Covenant - covenant being the operative word. Just as nothing ceased in the Old covenant until all was fullfilled by Christ, then ended, nothing ceases in the New Covenant, including the gifts of the Spirit, until Christ, Himself...

What is the old saying? "Ignorance is bliss." LOL

Did people receive the Holy Spirit and speak in tongues? Or did they speak in tongues ....?

Your opinion which is based on the twisting of scripture into something unrecognizable will never bring you to truth. I doubt that even another Cessationist would agree with you. And I certainly couldn't.

Did people receive the Holy Spirit and speak in tongues? Or did they speak in tongues ....?

And praise God they did! The Church was dead as Sardis is the church age just before it. Philadelphia is the Church that began the Charismatics and the Church started keeping the whole word of God, unlike Cessationist's Bible that doesn't believe half of of our new covenant.

Did people receive the Holy Spirit and speak in tongues? Or did they speak in tongues ....?

I've read your interpretation of scripture, and it is mind boggling why you can't understand what is written, but make it say the exact opposite! Who does that!?! You and I have agreed on other subjects, but your inability to understand the gifts and our covenant puts you in a class by...

What's with this thing called THE APOCRYPHA?

Thanks for the tip on the Archko book. I just bought it off ebay.

Did people receive the Holy Spirit and speak in tongues? Or did they speak in tongues ....?

Based on what? Did you actually speak in tongues, or were you doing what you were teaching others to do - fake it, till you make it.

What's with this thing called THE APOCRYPHA?

Yes, I like Lightfoot's translation, better than others.
